Did you whitelist all applications to allow all apps to display system tray icons? *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 662077 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662077 If you need to get your menu back without having to make a launcher or use the terminal command every time, just remove appmenu-gtk using synaptic package manager because it somehow clashes with another package. That's the best 'permanent' workaround until the bug in appmenu is fixed.
