I do have the same problem on my desktop and I can make you sure it is not the router, I have a desktop and a laptop, both got ubuntu installed using wubi, my computers are connected to a NETGEAR switch therefore my computers arent even connected to a router, my laptop is fine but I got the same problem with my desktop, the only difference between my laptop and desktop is that laptop got vista and desktop got XP. I did unplug and replug back the desktop and it resolved the problem.
