[Bug 1883698] Re: openscenegraph needs to be updated to 3.6.5

I doubt Ubuntu will backport OSG 3.6.5 to Bionic and Focal; but OSG here
is busted.

Redirecting to openscenegraph; openmw works fine with OSG 3.6.5; OSG

[Bug 1883693] Re: openmw randomly crashes

2020-07-28 Thread Bret Curtis
As reported https://gitlab.com/OpenMW/openmw/-/issues/5205 and also in
Debian https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=945875

OSG 3.6.4 is broken (by broken, it crashes applications that links to
it) and should not have been pulled downstream, compounded by the fact
that it replaced working OSG 3.4. The OpenMW team worked hard to trace
the problems down and sent patches upstream to openscenegraph which made
a 3.6.5 release which does not crash.

There are still additional patches in for OSG 3.6.6 but that has not yet
be releases but those are more quality-of-life patches.

I do not know if it is still possible to get OSG 3.6.5 into 20.04
proper; could it at least be put into bionic-backports?

Cheers,
Bret Curtis (OpenMW Lead and Debian Package Maintainer)

What version of gstreamer? You'll likely have to install the "ugly"
package to get the plugin.

You can test directly by using the wildmidi player to play back your
midi. If it works for you, then the fault exists with Gstreamer or
totem/rythembox.

[Bug 1244592] [NEW] Ogre 1.8.1 libs not in the right directory

2013-10-25 Thread Bret Curtis
Public bug reported:

The Ogre3D 1.8.1 plugins are in the wrong directory. They should either
be in OGRE-1.8 or OGRE-1.8.1 but not in OGRE-1.8.0, this causes problems
when compiling freeOrion and OpenMW. The workaround at this moment is to
"sudo ln -sf OGRE-1.8.0 OGRE-1.8.1" and rebuild or add kludge code their
respective CMake files.

[Bug 952149] Re: lightdm doesn't load unity sessions

2012-10-09 Thread Bret Curtis
This happened to me after a fresh install of beta2. Everything was well
and good (used for days with Unity) before I installed xfce4. I used
xfce4 for a few days, then tried to switch back. I couldn't select the
Unity WM option (unclickable) in lightdm. So I completely uninstalled
xfce4 and now lightdm doesn't show any options (should go automatically
to Unity) but just loops back to itself.

I checked ~/.dmrc and it says session=xfce which I change to ubuntu and
reloading lightdm, if I try to login again it rewrites ~/.dmrc back to
xfce and I'm bounced back to the login screen.

[Bug 1047316] [NEW] casper in initrd dies trying to find filesystem.squashfs on raid device

2012-09-07 Thread Bret Curtis
Public bug reported:

We've made our own LiveCDs and also used the Ubuntu 12.04 ISO to USB
trick with unetbootin and they both fail to find the filesystem.squashfs
when there is an existing raid array on the system. The end result is
that it dumps you to initramfs.

I've attached the casper.log file for the broken (default)
initrd.img-3.2.0-30-generic . There is also a patch to 'fix' the problem
and another 'working' log file.

** Affects: casper (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
