disabling antialiasing, but the patch for it makes Qt read subpixel and
antialiasing settings from Xft, instead of just hint style:

app) use grayscale font antialiasing. GTK 3, GTK 2, and Qt 4 use
subpixel antialiasing as expected, so fonts in Qt 5 look weird. Attached

I've noticed that sometimes window titles are out of date, too. Maybe
this bug doesn't affect just the window buttons, but is a bug with
redrawing the whole window border.

This is still a problem with the latest maverick for me. I noticed it
when attaching an external monitor to my laptop, which more than doubled
the horizontal screen resolution without increasing the vertical
resolution that much. It made the touchpad incredibly unwieldy.

Recently, I started having this bug every time I used the polkit dialog
(in maverick). After installing policykit-1 0.96-2ubuntu1.2 from
james_w's PPA earlier today, it seems to be fixed.
