For me, the problem occurred when I installed something related to pango
from synaptic. (I can't remember exactly which package it was now) I
removed it and firefox when back to normal. just a thought.

I would be willing to test it if you can explain to me what I need to do
to install that. I see the nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 - 185.18.14 drop
down. but see nothing to install.. Also, I haven't really used this site

Well when you try to move a pile. It will move them one at a time, but
it does it automatically for you. So say you want to move a pile of 5
cards(7,6,5,4,3) and you have 3 spots open at the top and one regular
row spot open. Lets say you want to put the 7 on an 8(that is open).

Here are some pictures. In this one. I am moving the jack of clubs to
the queen of hearts. in order to do this. it has to put the 10 to the
top and then it can move it. this is automated just by dragging the jack
to the queen

now here i am trying to move the jack of hearts to the queen of clubs.
This move is possible only because on have 2 open spots on the table. It
would move as many cards to the first empty one, using the second empty
one. if it needed to remove more, it would put them in the second empty
one after.
also, check to see if there are two entries for gmail.com or google.com
under the password bank. I have had that happen to where one had my
password and the other was blank for the same user name, causing it to
act the same way

password, it will not show the characters. they are hidden from view
when you type them in the terminal. It is there, just doesn't show

This affects me as well, but only on my main user. When my friend switches to
his account, it is the regular screen. If I try to switch from his account to
mine, I get the brownish-white screen. If I type in my password, it goes into
it. It only does it when switching to the account I use.

I had a similar problem after enabling it. I would put my computer into
suspend and it would never come back. It would get a black screen with
only the bluetooth light turned on. after hard booting it, the bios
would freeze one time so I would have to reboot again and it would work.

I completely missed that you were using xfce. I apologize. I checked the
default settings for gnome and it does not have those presets. (I have included
a picture)
The command should be totem /media/cdrom0 unless you have multiple drives.
Also, the command totem /dev/dvd will work.
On a side
have you tried using totem-xine? I had problems with the original
install of totem not working, but once I started using totem-xine it
started playing dvds fine.

perhaps you have another cd copy program installed? Each time shows a
different picture which makes me think you might have another program
that wants its chance to copy that disk.
To check which OS, click System Administration System Monitor. Then
choose the system tab.

I tried partition magic, but it does not work with vista unfortunately.
