[Bug 192527] [NEW] hardy sets background for the virtual, not for the physical screen(s)
Public bug reported: With the new X the only legal way to have multiple displays is to place them (per card) into a single virtual screen. But if you do so, and don't clone, but place your displays alongside each other, then the background image gets screwed. Gnome takes the (usually huge) virtual screen as the display for the background instead of painting the image on a per-display basis. In other words, a centered background image is placed across your displays in the center of the virtual screen, a stretched/tiled one is stretched/tiled over the whole virtual display, instead of the physical ones. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- hardy sets background for the virtual, not for the physical screen(s) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/192527 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 192028] Re: gnome-terminal reappears unexpectedly when fullscreen
Compiz is disabled. It is reproducible for me not just with a different and new user, but also one a different machine. Maximazing the window can happen through pressing F11 or the system-wide hotkey for this. The window of gnome-terminal should left in full screen mode, and shall not be minimized. Not just OOo, but also interaction with other programs are able to cause the sudden reappearing of the full screen window. (But this is the only one that works always for me.) [Bug 173410] Re: [Hardy][Regression] No content in the displayconfig GUI
It looks for me, as would this program still try to use the old, xorg.conf editing way to configure the display settings. For example if I extend my xorg.conf with a ServerLayout section, so it starts properly. But it offers me of setting up two video cards for my laptop (it has only one). This implies that it still enables to set up the old and now illegal way, of having a dual-head config that is, to specify multiple device, display and screen sections for a single video card, and than using them together in a single ServerLayout section with parameters like LeftOf. It also has no way of selecting do not specify as video card, to have it autodetected. displayconfig should not edit xorg.conf in any way, instead it should configure the display with and based only on xrandr. That would also dismiss the requirement of being a super user for it's running. -- [Hardy][Regression] No content in the displayconfig GUI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/173410 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 164049] Re: intel xorg driver disables direct rendering for virtual display larger than 2048
I can confirm this bug and give further details. I read (http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Xorg_RandR_1.2) that earlier intel cards had an 11 bit address space for 3D acceleration (limiting coordinate values to 2048), but my chipset is supposed to have this limitation lifted, but not implemented in the driver. Support would be important to have proper dual display configurations. [Bug 189694] Re: problem with intel card and resolution
I can confirm this bug and give further details. On current Hardy with chipset and video card: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 Memory Controller Hub (rev 0c) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c) With xorg (1:7.3+10ubuntu4) and intel driver (2:2.2.0.90-2ubuntu2). When X starts the intel video driver allocates (fb) memory equal to the size of the square of the biggest (horizontal or vertical) dimension (in pixels) of any of the attached display devices. (That is the maximum value in the first line of xrandr's output.) This is annoying, because you just can't hot-plug (even when now with xorg and xrandr possible) display devices. And even when connected first, it is not possible to set an extended (a.k.a. virtual, dual, multiple) screen configuration, because if your first monitor is 800*600, and your second 1024x768, you are unable to place them aside of each other. That would require a virtual resolution of at least 1824x768, instead of the automatically chosen 1024x1024. A solution exists: place the following (sub)section in xorg.conf in the device section. [Bug 188821] [NEW] hardy screen and graphics dialog broken
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu Hardy alpha 4: The administration dialog Screen and Graphics Preferences is broken. All the values of the fields are unset, and it tends to crash if attempting to change some settings. The Graphics Card tab has no controls/fields at all. HW: ThinkPad R61i 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c) X.org settings are the default, it is unaffected by the status of compiz. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- hardy screen and graphics dialog broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188821 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 188579] Re: virtualbox installs for the wrong kernel
After uninstalling VirtualBox and it's modules package, and trying to install it again with apt: $ sudo apt-get install virtualbox The following extra packages will be installed: linux-image-2.6.24-5-386 virtualbox-ose virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6.24-5-386 And again the (uncorrect) -386 module (and the corresponding kernel image also) is automatically installed. Isn't maybe the virtualbox-ose-modules virtual package broken. apt-cache show returns an empty output. And this is the package virtualbox is depending on, and this should depend on the correct module package. -- virtualbox installs for the wrong kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188579 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 188821] Re: hardy screen and graphics dialog broken
I have a fresh install, my default xorg.conf looks like attached. Running in terminal reveals, that displayconfig is not compatible with a ServerLayout-less xorg.conf $ gksu displayconfig-gtk *** Error: couldn't find any ServerLayout sections Any suggestions? Should Ubuntu ship with a different default xorg.conf or is displayconfig handling the situation improperly? ** Attachment added: xorg.conf http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11748374/xorg.conf -- hardy screen and graphics dialog broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188821 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 188463] [NEW] glipper's package is missing of binaries
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: glipper Ubuntu Hardy alpha 4 (i386): Package glipper (version 1.0-1) is missing some binaries. [Bug 188090] [NEW] gnome workspace switcher doesn't work properly when compiz enabled
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 (development branch, fresh install, daily-life build from Feb 01) When compiz enabled, and set CompizConfig - General -Desktop Size to the following parameters: Horizontal virtual size: 4 (to have a cube) Vertical Virtual Size: 1 Number of Desktops: 1 (I would like to see every workspace as a single and separate side of the cube.) Now it is not possible to have the workspace switcher to display the four workspaces in two rows (in a 2x2 matrix), only in a single row. If I increase the vertical virtual size, or the number of rows in the preferences dialog of the workspace switcher applet, then either nothing happens (it disaplays still just rows, or it displays more then it should. [Bug 12153] Re: Cannot use Windows key in keyboard shortcuts
I can confirm Aaron C. de Bruyn said on 2007-06-03. When in the 'Keyboard' 'Layout Options' 'Alt/Win key behavior' is set to 'Super is mapped to the Win-keys (default)', I'm able to assign keybindings in 'Keyboard Shortcuts'. Where for example I get the text Mod4+R. In gconf-edit stands Mod4Hypers. And everything works fine _except_ the keybindings located under /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/keybindings/ . Any keybinding located here (calculator, browser etc.) can be set, but if it is assigned to a Win+Any key, it does not happen anything. Other keybindings like 'Take a screenshot' work well, even with the Win key involved.
