[Bug 1727958]

2021-06-11 Thread Caolanm
There are 3 years between comment #7 and comment #8 and a lot has
changed since. I suggest a new fresh bug with the details of your
libreoffice version and vclplug variant because I think the general case
is now solvable (and works with e.g. gtk3 variant and mutter-40.1) so
you may have a specific set of circumstances where it still fails.

[Bug 1040037]

2013-07-29 Thread Caolanm
a) In any version of LibreOffice in the print dialog or in printer options
you can temporarily override the default print job format for that document for
the current session. That won't stick permanently (it's not supposed to).
b) In spadmin it *should* have been possible to override the print job format
permanently an individual printers as a workaround. That didn't work and is now
fixed on master as 08597f2897e5ac752147c8f2c4a91bb557ed4580
b) In LibreOffice 4 under tools-options-print there is now an additional
checkbox to disable using PDF as the default print job format for all printers
as 59b98580bfd70205a9ebdb0ba67e74225d875b43

Working under the assumption that the problem is not in our PDF output,
but instead is due to probably multiple different bugs in probably
multiple pieces of the cups stack, this is the best I think we can do on
our side.

See
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_debug_printing_problems#Finding_where_the_problem_lies
for a useful guide to finding what component in the cups stack that
might be causing your individual problems in order to track down the
root causes.

If anyone has any evidence that there really is a fault in our PDF
generation then please open a new bug for that.

[Bug 992807]

2012-10-04 Thread Caolanm
Yeah, the feature is supposed to now be language dependant. i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd
for English, while 1er, 2e, etc. for French.

3.6 is busted in that it carefully determines that e.g. st is indeed the
right suffix for English but then ignores it

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=defe079d455ccc958fd0128e8a8cf0e4aeb5cd9c

fixes that

The additional
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=a05357ab69712bec53c2d8d17efbbf25907ff9b8
makes the features safe against the unexpected

[Bug 927931]

2012-09-05 Thread Caolanm
There are no performance reasons for turning CTL or CJK on/off as far as
I can recall. Just the explosion of bewildering extra features for
users of plain-old-latin scripts.

Perhaps the least contentious solution is to additionally enable the CTL
(or CJK) features on windows if a window keyboard layout is installed
which falls into one of those categories. Filed an easy hack as bug
54493 to do that.

[Bug 1001556]

2012-08-06 Thread Caolanm
Investigating the issue with comment #13 I find that its a pre-existing
problem and not a regression so...

I've split this bug, and reset the original regression report back to
fixed and closed the additional problem as bug 51908

I wonder if dtardon's fix of
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=9d5da4e1d12c224286f871b28b7df31215f67d31
is relevant if someone is able to reproduce this.

[Bug 925836]

2012-05-01 Thread Caolanm
please don't reopen bugs unless you absolutely know that the problem
you're experiencing is the same as the original. File a new one please
and try the procedure in comment #14 to see if the output pdf is
invalid, and that's your problem, or if its something else which has the
same symptoms
