It's more of a general Ubuntu thing. Maybe font-config? Hopefully a
packager sees this and helps me out.

[Bug 1945817] [NEW] Change default Amharic font from Abyssinica SIL to Noto Serif Ethiopic

2021-10-01 Thread carnage-mode
Public bug reported:

Description of problem:

Abyssinica SIL is an old font. It's barely legible and breaks in most
apps. Noto Serif Ethiopic, on the other hand, is a modern and well
designed font.

Noto Serif Ethiopic is distributed with the Open Font License, so
packaging it won't be a problem.

[Bug 1183366] [NEW] Audio volume drops to 0 for a few milliseconds every few seconds

2013-05-23 Thread CarNagE
Public bug reported:

When having a continuous source of sound playing (like listening to
music), one can hear that the volume of the music drops to 0 every few
seconds (roughly every 10 seconds with a large variance, sometimes twice
a second, sometimes only once a minute) and resumes the previous value
after a few milliseconds (maybe 100 or so). This is really annoying and
makes listening to music a pain because it results in some crackling.

Strangely enough, I can even observe the behaviour in alsa-mixer.
Whenever the volume drops, I can see how the sliders for Surround,
Center, LFE and Side quickly get muted (I see the MM appear below the
slider for a split second) and then resume the previous volume. On top
of that, the Master slider sometimes increases by a few percent and
resumes the previous level. This happens less frequent than the mutes,
but is equally annoying.

I can reproduce this behaviour both from a Kubuntu 13.04 LiveCD without
any additional programs installed as well as from the command line
without running X. Furthermore, Kubuntu 12.10 and 12.04 LTS already had
this problem. I tried uninstalling pulseaudio which did not solve the
problem. Upgrading to the latest alsa version as listed under
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa did not solve the problem
either (I could only use the DKMS solution because apt couldn't find the
snapshot packages after adding the audio-dev repository) The problem
does not occur under Windows, so I can more or less certainly eliminate
a h/w-problem...

[Bug 278648] Re: [regression]snd-hda-intel sound input does not work at all with Conexant CX20549 (Venice) chips

2008-11-17 Thread carnage
same problems for me now with 8.10 and before with 8.04.
internal mic has never worked although if i really yell into it i can hear it
just faintly in the playback from sound recorder with pulseaudio running. also
have the interesting and annoying bug where i unmute the mic (the 'toggle audio
recording from... button) in the volume control under the recording tab, close
volume control, open it again and it's magically muted again.

haven't tried with an external mic

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /proc/asound/card*/codec\#*|grep -i codec
Codec: Conexant CX20549 (Venice)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lspci | grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 03)

cheers

Public bug reported:

I installed Ubuntu Christian Edition (Linux) for the first time
yesterday. One of the first tasks was to install esword, which I did,
but when I try to launch esword nothing happens. So I opened sword

esword again and nothing happens. I tried to reinstall esword and that
did not help.
