[Bug 1183330] [NEW] Canon DR-2580C only low resolutions

2013-05-23 Thread Carl Davis
Public bug reported:

I have a Canon DR-2580C. If I scan at anything above a –resolution of
240 my attempted scan fails with:

scanimage: open of device canon_dr:libusb:001:012 failed: Invalid
argument

This problem does not exist on 12.04 but does on 12.10 and 13.04. I have
run:

SANE_DEBUG_CANON_DR=30 scanimage --resolution=300  2580-1.pnm
22580-13.04.log

and attached the log file to this bug report. I have also run the same
command on 12.04 (which succeeds) and will attach that log file as
2580-12.04.log.

[Bug 493131] Re: conky network speed 1B in idle

2009-12-06 Thread Carl Davis
You may want to try to:

sudo tcpdump -i eth0

at a terminal window to see if the interface is really idle. I have
installed conky on 9.10 and on my interface that is truly idle (no link
light) and I get 0k/s in and 0k/s out. I suspect that running tcpdump
will show that there really is some traffic on your interface.

[Bug 490093] Re: Cannot change password with users-admin (gnome-system-tools)

2009-11-29 Thread Carl Davis
I can confirm this behavior. Below are more specific steps to reproduce
it.

1. Open Users and Groups
2. Select your user and choose properties
3. Click change password

After following through with the steps to change your password here the
/etc/shadow file shows the change

4. Click OK to close out of the Account 'username' Properties dialog
box.

After you authenticate with the dialog box that opens, your password
will revert to the original. The /etc/shadow file is rewritten with the
original hash.

NOTE: If you click Cancel instead of OK to leave the Account
'username' Properties dialog box the /etc/shadow file does not revert
to the original.

[Bug 489726] Re: Can't create PID file /var/run/dhcpd.pid: Permission denied

2009-11-28 Thread Carl Davis
I believe that the file '/etc/init/ebox.dhcpd3.conf' should read:

exec /usr/sbin/dhcpd3 -f -q -pf /var/run/dhcp3-server/dhcpd.pid

instead of its current implementation of:

exec /usr/sbin/dhcpd3 -f -q

This is how the /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server file is written and at some
point the correct directory is created in /var/run with what looks like
correct permissions:

2009-05-06 Thread Carl Davis
I can confirm that this happen son 9.04. I do think I might have
identified an AP/router that doesn't seem to lock up. I also reproduced
the problem while using virtualbox.

[Bug 253980] Re: pidgin randomly crashes with Segmentation fault

2008-11-11 Thread Carl Davis
I believe I was able to resolve my problem by muting all sounds within
Pidgin. It is probably important to note that every other application on
my laptop can play sound without crashing my system. Hopefully this
helps you as well.

[Bug 253980] [NEW] pidgin randomly crashes with Segmentation fault

2008-08-01 Thread Carl Davis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

1)
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04

2)
pidgin:
  Installed: 1:2.4.3-0ubuntu1~hardy1
  Candidate: 1:2.4.3-0ubuntu1~hardy1
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.4.3-0ubuntu1~hardy1 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy-backports/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2.1 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy-updates/main Packages
 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages

3) Continue running with a crash

4) It feels somewhat random, but almost always if the crash happens it
is immediately after hitting the enter key after typing a message to
someone. This doesn't mean that every time I hit enter it crashes, only
most of the time. I have deleted the .pidgin directory and established a
connection to only Google chat.

** Affects: pidgin (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
