So I just booted back to my 5 kernel. I switched KDE to xrender first The flickering is present at the login screen, but not in the running desktop, however, I do know from previous experiments with xrender as a solution it can still start flickering, perhaps that's after a suspend but I'd have

I can confirm that I have experienced this and it is most definitely related to Kernel 5 > If it clears in upward versions I can't say I did let Kubuntu 18.04 upgrade to 19.04 and the issue appeared. Switching KDE settings to xrender seemed to help, but it didn't remove the problem totally. I

By file assume you mean an actual file rather than a Image of the of the issue. Actually I can tell you I had this issue on a file I already had created. But I did test the issue by creating a completely empty file with the Vintage slide and the issue remained. I did also try some other slides,
