to my KDE autostart, with a start in terminal attribute; command
itself fixes the sound for me

What else - I didn't have all the output channels I had before, both in
Alsamixer and KMix: only Master and Front remained...

I just did the update per flash.bat now.
The flickering is gone definitely on my U100, a fresh Ubuntu with all updates
until today.

Found another way to stop flickering, much saner than right mouse hold
- and unlike it working in KDE
You need to put a high load on the CPU - so just switch the desktop
with Compiz - and flickering stops
