[Bug 1981807] Re: qt5-network openssl3 armhf does not support tls1.3

2022-08-31 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
The patch looks reasonable (assuming that it doesn't change ABI, which
seems to be the case). Could you be able to update the bug with the
necessary SRU information (the
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#SRU_Bug_Template can help
here)?

Particularly, the [Test Plan] and [Where problems might occur] parts are
important. You've got most of a test-plan there already (but we should
have some tests of existing packages to check we don't have a regression
and make sure ABI hasn't been broken). I can help there, but you
probably have better insight into this code and where it might go wrong
than me :). If you'd like help, give me a ping (RAOF in #ubuntu-
release:libera.chat).

[Bug 1974456] Re: regression: apt.postint fails if never previously configured

2022-05-31 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello David, or anyone else affected,

Accepted apt into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/2.0.9 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in

[Bug 1969939] Re: puppet 5 package incompatible with ruby 3 / ubuntu 22.04

2022-05-24 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
As an SRU team member, it's unclear to me whether the errors reported in
this verification are introduced by this update or are merely existing
problems that the code now hits because it's getting further.

It's also not clear to me what the effect of these errors is - if these
are just harmless warnings printed, that's ok, but if they are exposing
real problems that's an issue. Even more if they're exposing problems
that might hit users that are not already broken by this bug.

Can we please get an analysis of what - if anything - is broken here?

Hello Michael, or anyone else affected,

Accepted kubuntu-settings into jammy-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-
settings/1:22.04.10 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

To what extent is this a minimal change to fix the issue? I'm unfamiliar
with Plymouth scripting, but wouldn't it be simpler to fix the existing
theme than to wholesale replace it?

just a no-thought hitting of the retry button.

2022-04-05 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
So, I'm a little confused about the
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DockerUpdates policy here, specifically when it
states “The aim is to backport the .1 release of a major version…” and
the upload here is for runc 1.1.0. Is the claim here that 1.1.0 vs 1.0.1
is not a major version release? Is the policy outdated?

The others look fine.

common/1:0.9.0~0.20.04.7 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1958620] Re: [Dell XPS 15 9575] Flickering white/black screen once KMS comes up

2022-03-31 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hm. That commit has too many dependencies to cherry-pick (or even
cherry-pick a small series) without significant conflicts. It might be
still possible to *understand* the patch and write an equivalent for
5.15.

Thanks for that bisect.

Annoyingly, that commit doesn't cherry-pick cleanly onto 5.15, but I'll

Nope. It looked like a good candidate, but isn't the fix.

5.17.1 fails, drm-tip succeeds, so the fix is somewhere between v5.17
and drm-tip. I'm (slowly) bisecting to find the commit that fixes it.

I suspect this may have been fixed by
9ce5884e5139037445d0efcf37aeba21008011ad; I'm building an Ubuntu kernel

Hm. Although that seems to have been included in 5.16, and I *thought*
I'd verified that 5.16 exhibited the bug?

[Bug 1958620] Re: Flickering white/black screen once KMS comes up

2022-03-25 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Further investigation:
Affects:
1) 5.13.19 does not suffer from this bug
2) The Ubuntu 5.15 kernels, and mainline 5.16 and 5.17 kernels *do* suffer from
this bug.

Also of note: this only occurs the *first* time KMS tries to come up on
the panel, and *only* if there is not a second monitor plugged in.
Having a second monitor plugged in at boot results in a successful boot,
*plugging in* a second monitor after triggering this bug results in
*both* displays working fine, and *removing* a second monitor leaves
the laptop panel working.

It looks like maybe a bug has been introduced in framebuffer allocation?

[Bug 1952763] Re: [SRU] manilaclient.common.apiclient.exceptions.Forbidden: Access was denied to this resource. (HTTP 403)

2022-03-16 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Dropping my comments from #ubuntu-release in here for posterity:

RAOF: Oh! I think I see where I'm wrong. /etc/manila/policy.json isn't
shipped in the package, it's /usr/share/manila-common/manila.conf which
is then munged into /etc/manila/policy.json by pkgos_write_new_conf in
the postinst, so it's not a dpkg conffile and so you don't have all that
nice machinery available.

RAOF: So, in summary: the package in impish-proposed fixes fresh
installs of manila, leaves upgrades broken, and unbreaking upgrades is
not trivial.

RAOF: Based on that understanding I'm happy to accept what's in the
impish queue as an SRU. You're going to need to fix it in the openstack
charm anyway, though, so if you don't want that SRU to go through I'm
also happy to reject it ;)
