[Bug 1505409] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGTRAP in x_io_error() from _XIOError() from _XEventsQueued() from XPending() from gdk_check_xpending() ["Connection to xwayland lost"]

2017-10-29 Thread Chris Miller
So, this definitely isn't a "fix", but it resolved the problem for me
(at least so-far). I simply dpkg-reconfigured over to another DN
temporarily, rebooted, then swapped back to GDM3 and it went away. Less
of a fix more of a band aid.

[Bug 570151] Re: mouse stuck between screens with xinerama

2010-11-14 Thread Chris Miller
Exact same problem here. I'm using one card and two monitors, with a
single monitor rotated 90 degrees (a configuration that isn't possible
using TwinView). I see the stuck mouse and lock-up probably once a day.
Xorg file attached, and I'm more than willing to help test patches or
provide traces.

[Bug 650539] Re: Launching QT apps under Xinerama crashes Xorg : affects SpeedCrunch, KeePassX, Lucky Backup, Pencil, Stellarium, Skype, Google Earth, VLC, Konqueror, VirtualBox, Opera ...

2010-11-14 Thread Chris Miller
Has anyone successfully built the package on i386? I'm getting some
cryptic (to me) errors when I try to create a patched version. The tail
end of the debuild output is attached.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could help me figure out what's going wrong
(or point me to an i386 package that someone else has built
successfully). Thanks.

[Bug 438868] Re: Address bar autocomplete doesn't always work

2009-11-16 Thread Chris Miller
Same problem here. Both Jaunty+Karmic with compiz enabled, ATI graphics
card. seems to occur mostly (but still feeling random) when I'm away
from the computer or unfocused from FF. Happened first in Shiretoko,
and then went back to Firefox 3.5 and the same problem reoccurs.
doubleclicking the favicon to the left seems to re-enable, or a browser
restart.

[Bug 363375] Re: [multi screen] mouse position sometimes wrong

2009-06-28 Thread Chris Miller
Marius, Twinview does not support dual monitor setups where just one
monitor is rotated 90 degrees (one in landscape, one in portrait)

FWIW, it seems clear at this point that it's a bug in Xinerama

[Bug 157319] Re: RandR loaded, but missing

Same problem here - every time I launch a GUI window, I receive the same
message

Xlib: extension RANDR missing on display :0.0.

This is using Xinerama and an NVIDIA card with the latest nvidia
restricted driver (version 177).

[Bug 295313] [NEW] w/ Xinerama enabled, Xlib displays RANDR warning dialog

2008-11-07 Thread Chris Miller
Public bug reported:

Every time I launch a GUI program from the terminal, I receive the
following error message:

Xlib: extension RANDR missing on display :0.0.

I use Xinerama to rotate one of two monitors in a dual-head setup.
(AFAIK this isn't possible using TwinView) Upon upgrading from Hardy to
Intrepid, I started getting these annoying (and useless) warnings.
Other than the warning, everything seems to be working correctly.

As I understand it, xrandr should be disabled when Xinerama is enabled, but
that doesn't seem to be happening. Using
   Option RandR off
in my xorg.conf has no effect. I've attached my xorg.conf attached for
reference.

[Bug 83102] xscreensaver/twinview resolution issues

2007-02-03 Thread Chris Miller
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: electricsheep

Version:
electricsheep 2.6.8-2ubuntu1
xscreensaver 4.24-4ubuntu2
(both from the ubuntu repositories)

Description:
This issue affects systems using NVIDIA dual-monitor setups with Twinview
enabled. My desktop, as an example, uses 2048x768 resolution.

When the computer goes idle, xscreensaver launches two seperate
instances of each screensaver, one on each monitor, each with a
resolution of 1024x768. This works correctly on all other screensavers.
However, when electricsheep is launched, xscreensaver correctly launches
two instances, but both instances of electricsheep believe the screen
resolution to be 2048x768. This results in only half of the video
appearing.

I poked around in the documentation and code, and there seems to be no
way to pass parameters to either electricsheep or to mpeg2dec_onroot
that will allow for correct resolution to be specified.
