[Bug 201894] Re: [hardy] keytouchd crashed with SIGSEGV in memcpy()

2008-08-07 Thread Cinar Sahin
keytouchd does crash randomly at startup for me. I didn't have apport
on, so can't get you guys a stack trace. All I get is the following in
the syslog:

Aug 7 16:37:00 xxx kernel: [ 86.618583] keytouchd[7512]: segfault at
8 rip 7fa02dee1dc2 rsp 7fff366e66d8 error 4

keytouchd appears as a defunct process with the x-session-manager as its
parent.

On hardy x86-64. Using keytouch 2.4.0 compiled from source. I'm gonna
try the newer 2.4.1 recently released and post again.

[Bug 201894] Re: [hardy] keytouchd crashed with SIGSEGV in memcpy()

2008-08-07 Thread Cinar Sahin
Installing 2.4.1 didn't change anything. 3-4 reboots and keytouchd died
in the same way. I am using a custom keyboard configuration file that I
created with keytouch-editor 3 beta.

I can confirm that starting a new daemon (as kiri/acron suggests)
returns the extra key functions back.

[Bug 215035] Re: Many special keys on Logitech Wave keyboard don't work

2008-07-09 Thread Cinar Sahin
Using keytouch (2.4.0 from source) and keytouch-editor (3.20 beta from
source) I have all of the extra keys recognized. I use the attached
configuration. For the keys not in the config file (zoom in/zoom out,
vista, volume up/down, mute, calc) I use gnome keyboard shortcuts. It's
much cleaner that way.

Although the Fn key is recognized, I couldn't get it to work with F-key
combinations (except for F7 and F9 which worked out of the box). Also, I
couldn't get the Vista key to Initiate Window Switch, although other
functions can be assigned for that key.

[Bug 82504] Re: gnome-panel autohides inconsistently

2008-06-26 Thread Cinar Sahin
I'm having the same issue. I can reproduce the behavior every time
though. I have a panel with a firefox launcher. I'm also using compiz
(so the when I click on a launcher the icon does the zoom and fade out
thing) It's easier to reproduce the bug when compiz is enabled.

To reproduce the problem:

create an auto-hide panel with a firefox launcher
click on the launcher and exactly when compiz does the icon zoom and fade out
thing (or if not using compiz within 250ms) move the cursor to the middle of
the screen where firefox will appear.
If you keep the cursor where on the launcher for more than the compiz
animation (i'm guessing around 250ms) and then move the cursor, the panel
 will always autohide.

This issue is really bothering me. It's basically making the auto-hide
capability disappointing at best.

[Bug 224966] Re: segfault in Xorg, gdm, compiz on scroll with firefox/webmail

2008-05-02 Thread Cinar Sahin
I tried disabling compiz and enabling compiz. Crash still occurred with
no report. I then tried on a third system with an nvidia graphics card
using the 96.* drivers, firefox did not crash in that setup.

Then I tried uninstalling the nVidia drivers and the crash stopped
happening (on both systems that were crashing).

The crash must due to the Nvidia drivers, but I still can't explain why
firefox is the only application that is triggering the crash.

I am marking the gdm bug as invalid. Please advise on how we can get
backtraces or crash reports through apport. I do get a /var/crash/.lock
file but nothing else.

[Bug 224966] Re: segfault in Xorg, gdm, compiz on scroll with firefox/webmail

2008-05-01 Thread Cinar Sahin
i might have to scroll due to my screen resolution (1280x1024). I also
confirmed the crash on my laptop running Hardy but has Nvidia NVS 140M.
Both are using the 169.12* drivers.

I also found the following message in the daemon.log:

May 1 00:48:29 -hostname gdm[7444]: WARNING:
gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restarting :0

I'm not sure why the title says the bug is not in ubuntu, I don't know
how to change it either...

[Bug 124149] network-manager signal strength bars are always full

2007-07-05 Thread Cinar Sahin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

First of all some system info:

Toshiba laptop Satellite 5105-s701
ubuntu feisty 7.04
wireless driver orinoco_cs
Kernel 2.6.20-16-generic

Network manager finds all wireless networks, however their signal
strength bars are all full. When connected however, the signal strength
of the connected network is displayed correctly. This might have to do
something with bug 85044 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/85044). For
that reason I have tried using different themes, but this didn't change
the symptoms.

The wireless interface is also set to roaming mode so bug 106508
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/106508)
doesn't apply. Apart from that network-manager seems to work ok.

[Bug 50396] Re: XEmacs always opens on *Scratch*

2007-06-07 Thread Cinar Sahin
My initial report was for Feisty. Since my report I haven't used the
xemacs-gnome-nomule package (I used the xemacs-mule package which didn't
have this problem). I just installed the gnome-nomule package and
checked it in both my computers running Feisty, and everything seems to
work. The opened file shows up as the active buffer.

I checked what I changed since then, I couldn't find any upgrades to my
gtk or gnome libs, however I did update the kernel to 2.6.20-16.

2007-04-23 Thread Cinar Sahin
Wanted to confirm this bug. When xemacs is executed from the terminal to
open a file the file is opened, but the scratch buffer is shown.

I've only tried this on the xemacs-gnome-nomule package (21.4.19)

The proposed solution also work, if you don't want to switch buffers
each time you open a file from terminal.
