[Bug 1733398] Re: gunzip fails with message : not in gzip format

2017-11-21 Thread Clive Johnston
It has been working fine all along until this past week or so. I
upgraded my machine to Bionic via the sed route and needed to patch a
symbols file with that buildlog, but it won't gunzip it. As I said,
I've never had any issues uncompressing buildlogs until now.

cliv...@kubuntu.org:~ $ apt-cache policy gzip
gzip:
  Installed: 1.6-5ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1.6-5ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1.6-5ubuntu1 500
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I have just noticed that the auto complete is inserting a / into the
filename at the epoch. I renamed the file to test.txt.gz but it still
fails.

[Bug 1733398] [NEW] gunzip fails with message : not in gzip format

2017-11-20 Thread Clive Johnston
Public bug reported:

I use "gzip -d" or "gunzip" to extract build logs to update the symbols.
For example:

wget https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-
ci/+archive/ubuntu/unstable/+build/13749931/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-
bionic-
amd64.kf5-messagelib_4%3A17.11.80+p18.04+git20171119.2017-0_BUILDING.txt.gz

gunzip buildlog_ubuntu-bionic-
amd64.kf5-messagelib_4\:17.11.80+p18.04+git20171119.2017-0_BUILDING.txt.gz

However, on Bionic this last command fails with:

gzip: buildlog_ubuntu-bionic-
amd64.kf5-messagelib_4:17.11.80+p18.04+git20171119.2017-0_BUILDING.txt.gz:
not in gzip format

The same file extracts on other systems, just not Bionic 18.04

[Bug 1714820] Re: Muon refuses to elevate to superuser for package install

2017-09-03 Thread Clive Johnston
I can't replicate this on my system and can only assume that the
authentication window is not being displayed or becoming focused to the
front of the active windows.

I have sub'ed the maintainer of the program to this report, maybe he
will know what could be causing it to do that.

[Bug 1512135] Re: Cannot add Telegram account to Telepathy

2017-01-20 Thread Clive Johnston
Hi,

I have packaged telepathy-morse for xenial, yakkety and zesty. It is in
my PPA - https://launchpad.net/~clivejo/+archive/ubuntu/telepathy-morse

I would appreciate anyone who is wanting to test this feature to install
it and try it out.

A couple of issues I have noticed are:

- You need to give the full international telephone number.
- You need to go Offline and then Online a few times in Telepathy for it to
actually send you the
code and be able to log into your account.

Any issues with this code can be reported upstream at the following URL:

[Bug 1653952] [NEW] KDE Connect should not depend on plasma-workspace

2017-01-04 Thread Clive Johnston
Public bug reported:

I've seen that the KDE Connect package on both Debian [1] and Ubuntu
[2] depends on 'plasma-workspace'. The KDE Connect project aims for
users of any desktop to be able to use it, and I think that depending
on Plasma might discourage users from other desktops from installing
it.

As far as I know, there is no actual dependency from KDE Connect on
Plasma, so it should be possible to compile and install kdeconnect
without it. It is true that the GUI we ship with the kdeconnect
package is a plasmoid, but the user is free to install another
frontend (or use the command line tool) and just not use the plasmoid.

Do you think this dependency could be removed from kdeconnect?

Thanks!

[Bug 1650367] [NEW] Package removal

2016-12-15 Thread Clive Johnston
Public bug reported:

Upstream KDE initially maintained two versions, KDE4 and Plasma 5.

Kubuntu started to package the newer KF5 version in new packaging called
kdeconnect-plasma. However, Debian decided to reuse the old KDE4
packaging and released KF5 version in this packaging.

https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-kde/kde-extras/kdeconnect.git/

Kubuntu now want to follow this move and released kdeconnect 1.0.1,
however this version is stuck in proposed due to issues with the
kdeconnect-plasma debug package.

Release to remove from: zesty

[Bug 1634250] Re: KMahjongg: dependency missing to kdegames-mahjongg-data-kf5

2016-11-21 Thread Clive Johnston
Just FYI the control file points to where the Kubuntu team keeps the
packaging.

https://code.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-packagers/kubuntu-
packaging/+git/kmahjongg

For completeness, it is worth pushing a merge request to the
kubuntu_yakkety_archive and kubuntu_zesty_archive so that the developers
can keep track of fixes.

[Bug 1637846] [NEW] Sync gpgme1.0 1.7.0-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-10-30 Thread Clive Johnston
Public bug reported:

Please sync gpgme1.0 1.7.0-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Changelog entries since current zesty version 1.6.0-3:

gpgme1.0 (1.7.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * new upstream release
- avoid building language bindings until we have C available
- add new symbols
  * use https for debian/watch
  * hand-write gpg-tool(1) rather than relying on help2man
  * improvements in gpgme-config(1)
  * updated debian/copyright to DEP5
  * use hardening flags

[Bug 1633855] Re: akonadi fails to start after upgrade to yakkety

2016-10-27 Thread Clive Johnston
I have uploaded what I believe to be a fixed package for akonadi to my
PPA

https://launchpad.net/~clivejo/+archive/ubuntu/yakkety/+packages?field.name_filter=akonadi_filter=published_filter=

Can someone who has this problem, please test that the fix works as
expected? Please only use my PPA to test this one package and remove it
afterwards.

[Bug 1636313] Re: [sync request] libdrumstick version in Debian is newer than in Zesty

2016-10-25 Thread Clive Johnston
I fully support this, however, I don't have the permissions to upload
it. I have also tried to run 'requestsync' but the tool says it is up
to date with Debian!

Any time I ask about getting it released I'm told it has to be sync'ed
from Debian.

Unfortunately, the application Minuet had to be omitted from Apps in
Yakkety because we didn't have the upgraded version it needs to build.

2016-10-22 Thread Clive Johnston
Version 1.0 of kdeconnect required an updated version on Qt which was
only available in yakkety. We are working on backporting Qt to xenial,
but with the release of Yakkety we had higher priorities.

Version 1.0.1 removes that hard dependency on Qt and allows it to build
on the version of Qt in Xenial.

I have packaged version 1.0.1 in my PPA -
https://launchpad.net/~clivejo/+archive/ubuntu/kdeconnect-kde/

Could the original poster please try installing this package and let me
know how you get on.

2016-10-22 Thread Clive Johnston
Hi, thanks for sub'ing me to the report. My PPA's are for testing
purposes only and should not be installed on a production system!! I'm
quite shocked that an article such as this is recommending installing it
from a PPA.

When the KF5 port of kdeconnect was released, to keep them separated,
the Kubuntu team decided to use new packaging called kdeconnect-plasma.
However, upstream (KDE) did not follow this suggestion and continued
releasing as kdeconnect. Debian then, only recently, used the old
packaging for the KF5 port and we (Kubuntu) want to follow this path.

The package does indeed need some replaces/breaks as you suggest. I was
working on it to try and get it into Yakkety, but due to other
commitments was not able to finish it. If you want to use the one in my
PPA you will need to remove kdeconnect-plasma manually and then install
it.

release upgrade to Yakkety 16.10 failing silently to the user after the
'Upgrade' button in software upgrades is clicked.

The bug is initially filed against plasma-discover, however it may be
more appropriate to update dependencies of another package instead.

[Bug 1633692] Re: missing depends on ubuntu-release-upgrader-qt - breaks GUI upgrades to yakkety

2016-10-17 Thread Clive Johnston
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * Current users running Xenial will be unable to upgrade to Yakkety,
+ due to missing package. The button to update basically does nothing.
+
+ * To allow users to upgrade to
+
+ * In addition, it is helpful, but not required, to include an
+explanation of how the upload fixes this bug.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * detailed instructions how to reproduce the bug
+
+ * these should allow someone who is not familiar with the affected
+package to reproduce the bug and verify that the updated package fixes
+the problem.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * discussion of how regressions are most likely to manifest as a result
+ of this change.
+
+ * It is assumed that any SRU candidate patch is well-tested before
+upload and has a low overall risk of regression, but it's important
+to make the effort to think about what ''could'' happen in the
+event of a regression.
+
+ * This both shows the SRU team that the risks have been considered,
+and provides guidance to testers in regression-testing the SRU.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ * Anything else you think is useful to include
+ * Anticipate questions from users, SRU, +1 maintenance, security teams and
the Technical Board
+ * and address these questions in advance

[Bug 1630700] Re: CVE - KMail - HTML injection in plain text viewer

2016-10-11 Thread Clive Johnston
Xenial is proving to be harder to patch due to it being Frameworks 5.18.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kcoreaddons/5.18.0-0ubuntu1

5.18.0 was tagged on Sat, 09 Jan 2016 09:49:38 + (09:49 +) so
according to this log:

https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kcoreaddons.git=history=5e13d2439dbf540fdc840f0b0ab5b3ebf6642c6a=src%2Flib%2Ftext%2Fktexttohtml.cpp

We have 5 patches to apply, but I'm not experienced enough with coding
to determine what is needed to fix the CVE and what is just new features
or bug fixes. There is talk in the KDE community that patches might be
available for up to a year after release, but still waiting on
confirmation.

Thanks, I've added those to the changelog as being closed by this
Update.

Do you know people who can test this package?

It needs testing to ensure those bugs are actually fixed and it doesn't
trigger any new ones!

[Bug 1546373] Re: [FFe] Please update to bugfix release 1.10

2016-04-15 Thread Clive Johnston
I cant seem to find a 1.10 release in Debian, does anyone know if they
have it? Any packaging I can find is over 2 years old at this point.

Anyway, I grabbed the old packaging and tweaked it a bit. I got it to
build locally and uploaded it to LP. There are a few issues with
symbols need ironed out, but in the mean time could anyone willing to
test it please do so.

It is in my PPA https://launchpad.net/~clivejo/+archive/ubuntu/xenial/

[Bug 1562406] Re: [FFe] Update to latest upstream version

2016-03-27 Thread Clive Johnston
@Flames_in_Paradise - I believe that muon-updater is being withdrawn and
replacement updater is now packaged in a new plasma-discover package,
which will be in the Plasma release 5.5.4 or hopefully the soon to be
uploaded 5.5.5.

http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/plasma-discover-updater

This FFE is regarding the Muon Package Manager, source-code available
here - https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=muon.git

The version I propose to go into Xenial is in my PPA -
https://launchpad.net/~clivejo/+archive/ubuntu/xenial if you install it
manually please note that the latest Muon PM needs an updated libqapt,
otherwise it crashes on refreshing the packages.

[Bug 1562406] [NEW] [FFe] Update to latest upstream version

2016-03-26 Thread Clive Johnston
Public bug reported:

Muon has undergone major changes upstream and has been split into
separate applications. As a result Muon Package Manager was forgotten
about. The current version in the archive fails to install due to a
dependency on libmoun which is no longer built by the upstream
application.

The current upstream Muon requires an updated libqapt and a recent git
snapshot of Muon to work correctly again

[Bug 1559538] [NEW] FreezeException

2016-03-19 Thread Clive Johnston
Public bug reported:

This software connects Android phones to the Kubuntu Desktop. It is
under constant development upstream, with features being added all the
time. Many people such as myself use the latest git snapshot of the
software, but I do feel that Xenial should also provide the latest
version (0.9) in the archive. I would like request a Freeze Exception
to provide the latest snapshot in Xenial.
