However, I still get an IP from dhcp, based on the logs, it seems
dhclient retries this operation many times and it eventually succeeds.
Maybe a race condition?

I see there is some documentation about removing these specific files in
the packages README.debian, but there is no documentation about how to
enable the addin? Its still included, just broken without these files.

This is because of a bug in libvte9.
The path it uses for gnome-pty-helper is:
strings /usr/lib/libvte.so.9|grep gnome-pty-helper
/usr/lib/vte/gnome-pty-helper
whereas the libvte9 package puts it in:
/usr/lib/libvte9/gnome-pty-helper
ln -s /usr/lib/libvte9 /usr/lib/vte solves it until the

when the network interface is under heavy load
