Seems to be a config problem. I just reinstalled my system, again ubuntu 9.10 and inkscape 0.47pre4 but now it works with globalmenu. Only known difference to old system is the ext4 instead of ext3 partition but this shouldn't matter. Of cause there are a lot of configurations I did not set yet. I

Same problem here with Ubuntu 8.04 on a 8GB Patriot USB Stick. Beta and a fresh RC installation worked fine. After some updates of the RC installation i had the same problem. Ubuntu 8.04 Final doesn't work even if installed completely new. I have also tried to install the nvidia graphics driver. -
