[Bug 973592] Re: aisleriot does not refresh cards after "deal"is pressed [with Nvidia prop drivers]
This affects me too. The missed refresh happens randomly after any card operation, not just after pressing "Deal". [Bug 887913] Re: Regression - Oneiric: extremely choppy audio, multimedia unusable
OK, I uploaded the extra info and changed back to "new". But something really weird happened. This system has had this problem since the beginning (I think I updated it when Oneiric was RC1), and it's been used every day since, so it's been rebooted dozens of times. But now, things have changed. Since maybe 30 minutes, now if I play an audio file, for the first time in weeks, it plays well. BUT - the small speaker icon on the top bar shows all dashes (like the volume is zero) and if I go to Sound Settings, there is no hardware detected there - as if I had no card at all. All the tabs show just nothing. And I can't change the volume in any way. I'm really confused. I haven't tried booting the other installation (the clean install), I will do shortly and report back... The only thing I did (that I can think of) is the procedure to have a verbose log of Pulseaudio, but I don't know if it might have changed something... [Bug 887913] [NEW] Regression - Oneiric: extremely choppy audio, multimedia unusable
Public bug reported: Installed 11.10 on two systems - a desktop and a laptop. On the desktop the sound is OK, while on the laptop, I get horrible lags and skips on all audio. If playing a movie and the soundcard is enabled, the video becomes choppy too. Tried both an upgraded system (from 11.04) and a clean install, same problem. The sound is *always* choppy, I get bursts of sound for about 1/2 second then maybe 1 second of silence. The "bursts of sound" appear to come in random order, too. The whole system is totally unable to perform any multimedia task as is now (i.e. playing music, playing videos, playing games). [Bug 877789] Re: Choppy Audio After Upgrade To 11.10
I just noticed that if I'm watching for example a Youtube video, with my ExpressCard sound card plugged out, then the video is perfectly fluid (but of course with no sound); then as soon as I plug the card in, and the system starts streaming audio to it, then the video too gets really choppy - it runs for at most half a second between "hiccups". [Bug 750450] [NEW] update-grub does not detect some installed systems
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub2 Testing this on a fully updated Natty beta. Running update-grub (from the Natty installer, or after a kernel upgrade, or manually) doesn't detect the system I have installed on my sda11 partition (it's a Maverick system, my main production system). It detects correctly another "experimental" Ubuntu system, and the Vista partition. If I manually mount the sda11 partition somewhere, and then manually run "sudo update-grub", then everything works as expected and it detects my Maverick install. My partitioning is a little complex (I have 4 different Linux systems, plus a Windows system, plus 4 separate data partitions) but this has always worked fine with previous releases of Ubuntu. My release: cristian@cristian-HP-Pavilion-dv2700-Notebook-PC:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu Natty (development branch) Release:11.04 Grub version: 1.99~rc1-8ubuntu1 What I expect to happen: I expect, when running upgrade-grub (or when installing Natty, for that matter) that all my installed system are detected. What happens instead: My Maverick system on sda11 isn't detected. I have to manually mount sda11 somewhere and then re-run update-grub to have it detected. [Bug 597476] Re: nVidia C67 GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M uses an unusable resolution by default
Still about the Natty beta... I tried to change the resolution to 1280x800, but it wasn't available on the monitor preferences window. To enable it, I had to uncheck the "same image on all monitors" box - then all the resolutions are available. Without unchecking that box, only the resolutions also good for TV output are available. And all of those are corrupted (striped) on this video card. It would be really nice to fix all the resolutions, but at least to set the default to the correct (1280x800) resolution, so that the system works "out of the box"... [Bug 287147] Re: knetworkmanager only sees usb gsm modem if it's plugged in before boot
I found a way to have KNetworkManager dynamically recognize my USB modem: I edited the file /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/10-modem.fdi' or su -c 'kwrite /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/10-modem.fdi and added this section: [code] modem IS-707-A [/code] Now KNetworkManager correctly detects the modem when it's plugged in, at any time, and displays it as ttyACM0. @ rudy.elgato: Here's the step-by-step procedure... - Boot the live CD. It won't finish booting, and hang before the graphical UI appears. - Press Ctrl-Alt-F1. This will open one of the default 6 text consoles. - You won't need to login (you're already logged in), but sudo works; it just won't ask any password. - sudo vim /etc/X11/xorg.conf - In the section named , after the line starting with "Identifier", add the line (without the <> signs). Save and close vim. - stop the dm: sudo /etc/init.d/kdm stop - restart it: sudo /etc/init.d/kdm start Now the system will boot! -- Intrepid Ibex beta xorg hp laptop gui wont load (EE) no devices detected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284492 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 287622] [NEW] Regression - Intrepid - Multimedia volume keys bring up the popup but don't change the volume
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kmix I recently installed 8.10 beta (fresh install), updated daily. I have a HP Pavilion laptop. On 8.04 the multimedia volume keys on my laptop (Volume+ and Volume-) used to bring up an on-screen popup showing the volume level, and changing the volume level of a few % each press. Now in 8.10 I get a strange behavior. Out of the box, after installation, the keys would bring up the OSD showing the volume level, but not change it. I made some experiments in the "System Settings / Keyboard and mouse / Keyboard shortcuts" screen. Here's what I found: If I assign the volume keys to "Decrease Volume" and "Increase Volume": - The PCM channel slider in the mixer moves up and down at each keypress; other channels are unchanged - The OSD appears but the value shown doesn't change; - The small speaker icon on the panel doesn't change its aspect. If I assign the keys to "Decrease Volume - Front" and "Increase Volume - Front": - The Front channel slider in the mixer moves up and down at each keypress; the other channels are unchanged - The OSD doesn't come onscreen. But if I bring it up with i.e. the "Mute" key, I can see it reflects the "Front" slider value. - The small speaker icon on the panel changes (it goes from a speaker with 3 waves to a speaker with no waves). In either way, the actual sound output is changed, because both channels need to be up to have maximum volume. So it seems that - the "Bring up the OSD" command is tied to the PCM channel; - the actual value shown in the OSD is tied to the Front channel; - the icon on the panel is tied to the Front channel. This is confusing... ** Affects: kdemultimedia (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Regression - Intrepid - Multimedia volume keys bring up the popup but don't change the volume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287622 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdemultimedia in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
