This was fixed in equivs 2.3.0, first found in Ubuntu 20.10 Groovy
Gorilla. --full or --source functions normally on Ubuntu 23.10 and
22.04. This bug still affects Ubuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu 20.04.

Oh, thanks for the reminder! This was actually resolved around the 17.10
series if I remember correctly. The resolution was probably a proper
driver in the kernel for the device since the touchpad and other
modifier keys started working better at the same time.
