I can mark this as some sort of closed/resolved status and tag the
original bugs with py2-removal, if that's better.
I'm not an advanced launchpad.net user, sorry.

I have no tested patches, as I don't use these packages. Just trying to
catalog the TODOs.
I am also, perhaps more-importantly, unfamiliar with the workflow to
create patches for this, but I could get involved with trying to fix
them if I knew how.

Thank you for your time. I can't see where it depends, recommends or

Okay, I just heard back that the "Provides:" is intended to be added
before final release.
It's deliberately left out for the time being, to ensure other packages
shipped by Ubuntu themselves, in the official repos, don't depend on
version-neutral "python".
(Depending on a package that doesn't
This also blocks installing the atom text editor in Focal at the moment,
as no package "provides" the "python" package, and atom currently
depends on "python".

I'm not sure what package to report this against.
The Ubuntu Bionic LiveCD boots VERY slowly compared to previous LiveCDs
(Trusty, Xenial, etc.)
I read this is being worked on (see: https://community.ubuntu.com/t
/desktop-newsletter-19th-jan-2018/3524 "General" section),
I believe EmojiOne Mozilla (and most proper emoji-containing fonts) have
issues with being overridden by DejaVu's black and white glyphs.
So you see a weird mix of black and white glyphs (from DejaVu Sans and
Mono and Serif etc) and full-color (from EmojiOne Mozilla) emojis.
I guess Ubuntu
Still affects me (same machine) trying to run Ubuntu 16.04 and other

I have this same problem.
I actually can't boot using the systemd option, so I boot into the
