[Bug 2055114] Re: fail2ban is broken in 24.04 Noble

2024-05-13 Thread Daniel Leidert
Can this *please* finally be fixed asap? This has been known for more
than two months now, and even before the official release of Ubuntu
24.04 LTS had been made. How this issue is handled for the LTS release
is becoming quite a source of frustration.

[Bug 1341811] Re: bluefish fails to start in 14.04

2014-07-15 Thread Daniel Leidert
You probably hit a bug already fixed in bluefish 2.2.6 (see #1300648).
AFAIK there is already a request to at least upload a fixed bluefish
version to trusty-updates or trusty-backports. But you can use a recent
bluefish package from Klaus Vormweg PPA for the being.

[Bug 943940] Re: Can't generate a new key if the .gnupg dir is a link to a dir in another partition

2014-07-04 Thread Daniel Leidert
There are probably several methods to make this work. One is described
here: http://support.gpgtools.org/kb/faq/networked-home-broken. Or your
can use a configuration option either on the command line or via
gpg.conf to set up the location of the secret keyring and store that on
the encrypted partition. Also using --homedir or exporting GNUPGHOME
with the location to the .gnupg directory should work. I'm therefor
closing this report. Please feel free to reopen it, if you still think,
you hit a bug.

[Bug 1285400] Re: package docbook-xml 4.5-7.2 failed to install/upgrade: package docbook-xml is already installed and configured

2014-02-27 Thread Daniel Leidert
This is not a bug related to docbook-xml. For some reason, some of the
already fully installed and configured packages (e.g. libattica0.4,
docbook-xml, etc.) shall be configured and installed again. Maybe you
tried to manually configure them although they already had been
configured and installed. Maybe you (or something in your system) messed
up the dpkg database. I don't know. However, the log clearly shows, that
this is tried for a bunch of packages including docbook-xml and that it
fails for all these packages. You might ask for help on a users list or,
if this is a reproducible issue during ubuntu installation, bring this
issue up on the Ubuntu installer bug page. Tagging this report as
invalid.

[Bug 1080906] Re: Gallium etymology disputed

2013-09-04 Thread Daniel Leidert
It is no. 22 of the citations listed at Wikipedia. I consider this a
correct citation. So the question is not, if Wikipedia is a valid source
but if the cited article is correct or not and if Wikipedia cites it
correct. I checked my local copy of GREENWOOD EARNSHAW in which the
etymology of Gallium is Gallia too. There is no reference to the
etymology you refer to. There are also the citations of the original
articles:
http://www.iupac.org/publications/ci/2004/2601/1_holden.html#24.

I suggest to discuss your request on/in a valuable mailing list/forum

The debugging symbols have been added although we refused to do this and

[Bug 1095070] Re: install xmlto should not install 1GB of packages

2013-01-01 Thread Daniel Leidert
dblatex, fop and other packages are recommended for installation and you
have configured your system to install those packages automatically.
These toolchains are recommended to make almost all functions of xmlto
available to users. If you only need docbook, libxml|xslt maybe you
don't need xmlto.

[Bug 1044156] Re: gpg key retrieval gives bogus, confusing error message

2012-09-06 Thread Daniel Leidert
It cannot resolve the hostname 'subkeys.pgp.net' to an IP address.
Sounds like you have a problem with your DNS resolver, which might be
caused by your configuration of iptables/ufw usage. Please check the
relevant logs and contact a user or support forum for iptables to get
help to find and fix the error. This is very probably not a bug in
gnupg. I'm therefor tagging it 'Incomplete' for the moment. Please
report back if you can verify, that this is not related to your iptables
config/ufw usage.

Please install gnupg-curl and try again. We build gnupg in two different
ways: one time with the built-in cURL implementation and one time
against the cURL library. The first has some limitations and maybe you
hit one. If that doesn't solve the issue for you, please enable
debugging and verbose output for server communication (--keyserver-
options verbode, debug) and post the output.

[Bug 1026942] Re: bluefish spams on commandline with debug output (stdout/stderr)

2012-08-01 Thread Daniel Leidert
I won't close this report. Indeed, often there is debugging output
added, which IMHO (I'm part of the authors team) spams the terminal.
There is no consistent policy, when and where errors, warnings,
debugging output or user information shall be printed. This should be
fixed. Please leave this item open. I'll make it an item for bluefish
2.2.4 or 2.2.5.

[Bug 1001166] [NEW] Remove the -dbg packages

2012-05-18 Thread Daniel Leidert
Public bug reported:

Please remove the -dbg packages: This is the only divergence from Debian
(I'll check for the other fix you apply). This package hasn't seen any
crashes. The homepage has been removed a while ago, so there isn't any
upstream activity anymore and there won't be any development for this
software. So IMO there is really no need to diverge from Debian here.

[Bug 993048] Re: adding a PPA key in pbuilder fails

2012-05-02 Thread Daniel Leidert
About your first attempt: Please use a key server that holds the key you
want to add. keyserver.ubuntu.com appearently does not have it.

About the second attempt: The $HOME variable in your environment is
preserved running sudo and the directory appearently does not exist in
your pbuilder CHROOT. You either want to read the sudo manual page or
the gpg manual page (--homedir /dev/null).

Your gut is wrong. Please read the error messages carefully next time.

[Bug 952612] [NEW] Package @GCONFPKGS@ was not found in the pkg-config search path.

2012-03-11 Thread Daniel Leidert
Public bug reported:

There is a serious issue in the libgucharmap-2-90-dev package in the .pc
file. The field Requires.private says:

Requires.private: @GCONFPKGS@

which leads to this error trying to get the CFLAGS:

pkg-config --cflags gucharmap-2.90
Package @GCONFPKGS@ was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `@GCONFPKGS@.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package '@GCONFPKGS@', required by 'gucharmap', not found

and thus e.g. bluefish fails to build, because the necessary include
directive for gucharmap headers gets lost.

[Bug 755617] Re: BluFish does Not execute a web file when its Earth icon is clicked

2011-11-22 Thread Daniel Leidert
The list should contain an entry for firefox. We ship it for some time
now. The entry just needs to be placed to the top. Closing.

Now you have to mark it as standard browser instead of moving it to the
top of the list.

[Bug 746966] Re: BlueFish fails to open Mozilla using the Earth icon on the menu

2011-11-22 Thread Daniel Leidert
Bluefish executes the browser command marked as standard in the
browser list in preferences.

The browser list contains an entry for Mozilla and one for Firefox.
The latter should work. The first might fail because of the mozilla
binary missing.

If this won't help you, please execute the standard command on the
command line and check the output.

Just mark the Firefox entry (or the browser you prefer) as standard.

[Bug 880949] Re: Problème intégration menus à Global Menu

2011-11-22 Thread Daniel Leidert
We were told that it worked in Ubuntu 10.04. Global menus might work
again with Bluefish 2.2.0, which won't use deprecated Gtk menu functions
any longer.

The symbol name points to libsc7 (mpqc). However atm I have no idea,
what the problem exactly is. Is libsc7 installed? Is ghemical linked to
it (ldd)?

[Bug 881254] Re: DocBook Package: Tools are broken and no longer supported

2011-10-25 Thread Daniel Leidert
Your report contains several problems and it is not clear to me, what
you are requesting nor what you are exactly complaining about (except
that docbook-utils is not a recent toolchain). Therefor I'm setting it
to Invalid. Please reassign and formulate your request. There are the
issues with your report:

docbook2pdf belongs to docbook-utils not docbook.
openjade also does not belong to docbook.
docbook contains the *SGML* document type definitions, but you are referring to
an XML file.
docbook-utils is not a recent toolchain and usually not adequate for DocBook
XML. To process the XML sources you should use docbook-xsl (with e.g. xsltproc
or xslto) or docbook2x or xmlroff. I would recommend the one mentioned first.
You might also get docbook-xsl2 from the upstream website and use it with an
XSLT2 processor like saxon9.
