[Bug 856710] Re: KMail2 migration wizard does not work on localized versions of Kubuntu
In my case it is even more complex as I have used the following line in kmail setting : folders[$ie]=${KMAIL_HOME} where I do set KMAIL_HOME in my ~/.profile. Apparently the migration script does not follow link or does not take into account this particular setting ! Now the user does not know where Kmaiul2 is storing mail which is not acceptable as a user MUST have full control of its own data whatever the software involved : akondadi, mysql, nepomuk. Another way to handle migration is this : - at first use do not migrate now, - use migration possibility in main menu, - then move folders wherever you want. In my case same problem with coexistence of equivalemnt folders like sent-mail et boîte d'envoi with no possibility to either : - rename a folder, - delete it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/856710 Title: KMail2 migration wizard does not work on localized versions of Kubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdepim/+bug/856710/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 181476] Re: [boot-internet-gutsy]Slow down when computer is not connected on internet
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 181475 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/181475 For some reason in network setting I added a wrong domain name where there was a blank field ; this created a stop in the boot procedure (I had to select the special kernel mode to access a console root mode otherwise there was no error message displayed on the screen that had gone from graphics to text mode) ; I fixed it because I remembered the recent modification ; again there is no reason why a wrong set of parameters for internet or for network should create such a situation ; I would expect a boot as a single machine with no network / Internet connection to allow for a fix in this new status. -- [boot-internet-gutsy]Slow down when computer is not connected on internet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/181476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: I had to move my computer from one location to another one where internet was not available and consequently I had no more a cable connected to my network card at the back. Booting, logging and even running applications in these new transient conditions was awfully slow ; I do think that we have an architecture problem making installation of the distribution internet slave for no valid reasons ; if for some reasons internet is not available it should not have any major impact on boot (after some time out this could be understood) but no impact at all on running typical applications such as Gimp for example. For your information I am using an Ldap local data base with some users in this data base but again this data base is not linked to internet whatsoever. So this situation may be considered as exceptional (no internet connection on a distribution where internet link may be parameterized in different areas) I think a fix must be designed. ** Affects: boot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [boot-internet-gutsy]Slow down when computer is not connected on internet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/181483 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 135573] Re: [Gutsy]ati or radeon driver for X300 PCIE video card
Tormod, I have to back-up on my statement because installation is misleading ; I investigated the bug on Internet and found the fix ; I had to remove the package xserver-xgl though not described by the installator as incompatible with driver radeon as provided with package xserver-xorg-video-ati. After doing so and rebooting I had as with Feisty my radeon driver working with or without compiz with metacity decorator ; it looks even faster than proprietary driver fglrx which might not be still true with the new Catalyst drivers not yet packaged ; kde decoartor does not work cleanly but it can be used. [Bug 105834] Re: [Feisty]no way to install kernel 2-6-20-14 on AMD 64 machine
I am processing this answer message from a freshly installed Feisty on hda1, hda2 and hda3 partitions ; for the time being no way to boot any kernel from up-dated Edgy installed on sda1, sda3 and sda6 partitions even with kernel 2.6.17-10 which is left from Edgy ; it is really difficult to undestand what is going on as after some various tries and modification as I have related for this past days ; I had a few correct boot sessions until again the same problems reapear all of them stopping the boot ; I think now it has to be with fsck not compatible with old partitions but I am not sure ; I will to try your GRUB solutions though I do not beleive it is a fix because it has to do only with boot loader installation and even with LILO I cannot boot ; anyways if you know how I can apply your fix to my bugged updated Feisty from this current feisty I will proceed. Globally on AMD 64 machines it is a real disaster at least on updated Edgy ; I was really suprised that after reporting bugs from pre-released Feisty I never got any update when Feisty was released on 19 04 2007 as they had not made any corrections ! [Bug 105834] Re: [Feisty]no way to install kernel 2-6-20-14 on AMD 64 machine
I have installed in parallel Feisty from a CD (Beta version) ; in this case kernel 2-6-20-15 is booting with no problem ; I am really puzzled ; basically the main difference between the 2 installation is that : - with upgrade procedure (update_manager) the main / partition (here /dev/sda1 SATA HD) is not reformatted, - with fresh installation / partition (here /dev/hda1 SATA HD) is reformatted. With the upgraded distro the only kernel booting sofar is 2-6-17-10 from Edgy ; any freshsly installed kernel such as 2-6-20-15 may use modules not compatible with the partition as is ? What I can try to do is copy /dev/sda1 on another freshly formatted partition and change accordingly fstab and check whether my upgraded distro is then bootable with kernel 2-6-20-15. Some comments on all this would be greatly apreciated. Marco eventually I could download this kernel and make a try : it did boot but got stuck in the middle of the process with no clear error message but I had a fair idea about what was wrong from a fresh installation of Feisty from CD in parallele to this upgraded one ; I edited fstab and commented all hda* and hdb* partitions out (I recall that I use the following partitions sda1, sda2 and sda3 on this upgraded one) ; then I tried to boot again and this time I finally got through and could access my graphical session successfully. Then I checked the content of /dev directory and oh surprise there are NO hda* or hdb* files ; what is funny is that on the Feisty distro mounted from CD in parallel on the following partitions : - hda1 (/) - hda2 (/home) - hda3(/usr/local) I have the same problem I mean after the boot there are NO hda* or hdb* files present ! ; I think here we have a major issue with UDEV and possible on ide HD. [Bug 67487] Re: [regression][rv280] black screen and console freeze when X starts - drm lockup
Sorry : I entirely disagree with your diagnosis : It has also become confusing because of people like you who obviously experience a different problem but insist on posting here again and again. It should have been painfully obvious for you from the beginning, but as it isn't, I will point it out in detail to you: - This bug is only about the ati driver, yet you use the fglrx driver. - This bug is only about computers that freeze each and every time, but yours only freezes occassionally. On the manifestation of the bug FROM TIME TO TIME on my AMD 64 MACHINE with RADEON X300 VIDEO CARD it is exactly the same diagnosis : I CANNOT ACCESS CONSOLE MODE ON BLACK SCREEN. This is the reason I said it is copnfusing simply because the spectrum of occurances on that very same diagnosis is very wide ! I tried a live CD from time to time to fix my system and as far as I know I never experienced the bug though nobody asked me to do so and anyways the live CD is now a different system compared to my installed one with plenty of upgrades. I plan to test Feistry in parallel.
