[Bug 1951491] Re: Can't run snaps: .slice/session-1.scope is not a snap cgroup
headset? umh, well I found that I have no `systemd --user` running (thank to Maciej Borzecki comment in #1956942), then I run it in a terminal, and this fixed the problem. I started session by `startx`, like enen above, I have no idea about gdm session, but I can guess systemd --user is started there, in GDM, but not by startx, and probably is a good idea not to run `systemd --user` from startx, but user feedback is awful, I mean, by clicking on the chromium launcher there is no feedback at all, running from terminal there is this cgroup related message, when in debug there is some reference to dbus, not systemd. At the end everybody need Maciej Borzecki to explain where is the problem, maybe snapd can return some less obscure message? Just an idea, thank you for support anyway. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951491 Title: Can't run snaps: .slice/session-1.scope is not a snap cgroup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1951491/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1914859] [NEW] On upgrading 18.04 -> 20.04: package grub-pc 2.04-1ubuntu26.8 failed to install/upgrade: loop on configure dialog
Public bug reported: I'm on a VM from LINUXVMIMAGES.COM. On upgrading from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 the installation of grub-pc detectedt a different media giving me the option to delect another drive where install grub. [Bug 1909115] [NEW] ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS needs custom DSDT fix to properly shutdown (random)
Public bug reported: Running Ubuntu server 20.04.1 LTS (CLI only), after switching from other distro (Manjaro and Artix) which present the same issue; basically I tried the debian based, arch based and systemd free distro. Issue description: issuing the command "shutdown -h now" or "poweroff -f" doesn't shutdown the system properly, the system hangs is S5. This doesn't happen all the time, but randomly, let's say in about 30% of cases. This happens not only with an installed system but also with the bootable usb installer. How to replicate: I really don't know, it seems very random, without a pattern. Motherboard: ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS with bios v. 5802 (dated 2015/10/15) CPU: 2x intel Xeon E5-2687w (SR0KG) After trying different proposed solutions for the "hanging at shutdown" issue (mostly by enabling/disabling things in grub and different kernels down to 4.9) I found out that only a DSDT fix solves the issue, and in particular in the _PTS method. Basically this is the original part of the extracted DSDT: Method (_PTS, 1, NotSerialized) // _PTS: Prepare To Sleep { If (((Arg0 == 0x04) && (OSFL () == 0x02))) { Sleep (0x0BB8) } PTS (Arg0) DBG8 = Arg0 WAKP [Zero] = Zero WAKP [One] = Zero WSSB = ASSB /* \ASSB */ WOTB = AOTB /* \AOTB */ WAXB = AAXB /* \AAXB */ ASSB = Arg0 AOTB = OSFL () AAXB = Zero \_SB.SLPS = One } The fix (or better call it workaround) includes a "do nothing" if Arg0 is 0x05 (state S5): Method (_PTS, 1, NotSerialized) { If (LEqual (Arg0, 0x05)) {} Else { Store (Arg0, DBG8) If (LAnd (LEqual (Arg0, 0x04), LEqual (OSFL (), 0x02))) { Sleep (0x0BB8) } PTS (Arg0) Store (Zero, Index (WAKP, Zero)) Store (Zero, Index (WAKP, One)) Store (ASSB, WSSB) Store (AOTB, WOTB) Store (AAXB, WAXB) Store (Arg0, ASSB) Store (OSFL (), AOTB) Store (Zero, AAXB) Store (One, \_SB.SLPS) } } I really don't know why without injecting the DSDT fix it hangs randomly at shutdown. I reported the issue to the kernel bugtracker too, but it seems there's not much movement there :D I hope this can be fixed kernel side: For reference, this is the link to the kernel bugtracker: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=210689 ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: acpi dsdt hang shutdown ** Attachment added: "Original dumped DSDT.dsl of Asus Z9pe-d8 ws - bios 5802 - without errors fix" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1909115/+attachment/5446218/+files/DSDT-Z9PED8-WS-v5802.dsl -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1909115 Title: ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS needs custom DSDT fix to properly shutdown (random) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1909115/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can confirm that with all kernel versions shipped with Ubuntu 20.04 up to 5.4.0-29 but excluding 5.4.0-31, sound and mic work without problems on Lenovo S940 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1845797 Title: Microphone not detected Lenovo Yoga S940 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1845797/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1845797] Re: Microphone not detected Lenovo Yoga S940
I've recently upgraded to latest Lenovo Yoga S940, with Intel Core 7 10th gen. With Focal Fossa, both audio and mic worked properly until a few days ago. [Bug 1855843] [NEW] vlan ip not assigned on boot but with `netplan apply`
Public bug reported: Hi everyone. This is my first time with netplan so this could be related to my inexperience, forgive me if is this the case. This is the only yaml config file present: ``` $ cat /etc/netplan/10-casa.yaml network: version: 2 renderer: networkd ethernets: ens3: addresses: ["192.168.1.2/24"] gateway4: 192.168.1.1 nameservers: addresses: ["1.1.1.1", "1.0.0.1"] vlans: vlan2: id: 2 link: ens3 addresses: ["192.168.2.1/24"] routes: - to: 0.0.0.0/0 from: 192.168.2.0/24 via: 192.168.1.1 ``` # ifupdown is not installed (I installed and then removed while installing the server). ``` $ ls /etc/network/* /etc/network/fan /etc/network/if-down.d: resolvconf ubuntu-fan /etc/network/if-post-down.d: bridge ubuntu-fan vlan /etc/network/if-pre-up.d: bridge ethtool mtuipv6 vlan /etc/network/if-up.d: 000resolvconf ethtool ip mtuipv6 openssh-server ubuntu-fan vlan # I also removed the 50_cloud_* file from here: $ ls /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d 05_logging.cfg 90_dpkg.cfg README curtin-preserve-sources.cfg ``` Now the lettuce.. If I execute: `sudo netplan apply`, everything works as expected: ``` $ ip -4 addr 1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000 inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 2: ens3: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP group default qlen 1000 inet 192.168.1.2/24 brd 192.168.1.255 scope global ens3 valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 4: vlan2@ens3: mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UP group default qlen 1000 inet 192.168.2.1/24 brd 192.168.2.255 scope global vlan2 valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever ``` The problem occurs after a reboot, where the vlan2 tries to obtain an IP via DHCP and the vlan2 ip is assigned to the ens3 interface. The funny part here, is that if I manually execute `netplan apply` at this point, the right IP is assigned to the vlan2 interface, so in my case, I have "solved" this issue, putting `netplan apply` in the `/etc/rc.local` file... ``` ip -4 addr 1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000 inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 2: ens3: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP group default qlen 1000 inet 192.168.1.2/24 brd 192.168.1.255 scope global ens3 inet 192.168.2.1/24 brd 192.168.2.255 ... valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 4: vlan2@ens3: mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UP group default qlen 1000 inet 169.254.x.y/z ... valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever ``` Am I missing something? [Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)
Ubuntu on Wayland has same behavior, but worst. Video attached shows open a new tab with CTRL+T and the new tab not being rendered until I create a new. Then I remove both, I create a new one, not rendered, and got rendered only when the mouse is moved. https://photos.app.goo.gl/6Nc6oABXs1xX1ks26 This worked fine in 19.04 and works fine now with external display. I'll send another video showing how windows animation for align right/left do not work, windows just step from one state to the next with no animation. I've made a picture as screenrecord/screenshot can't cath the problem. As you can see the render is still on "General" despite "Extensions" being the current selection. [Bug 1845795] Re: authentication window got stuck over other windows
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: The "Authentication required" screen appeared while I was changing software repository settings, but it is stuck there: 1. I can click "cancel" but there is no effect 2. The window is now always on top of any other window, despite the original Software Repository Settings windows has been closed (actually, terminated manually) As you can see in the screenshot, The Firefox windows has focus now as I am typing in the address bar, but still the "dead" authentication window is on top.
