Solution to sending compressed directory /var/lib/dkms/virtualbox/4.1.12/build , rename it without '.tar.gz' extension create archive with the following: david@XPS13:/var/lib/dkms/virtualbox/4.1.12/build$ \ tar -zcvf ~/Desktop/virtualbox-build-20140224-0225.tar.gz \ /var/lib/dkms/virtualbox/4.1.12/build \ ~/Desktop/virtualbox-build-progress-0225.txt tar: Removing leading `/' from member names david@XPS13:/var/lib/dkms/virtualbox/4.1.12/build$ Rename 'virtualbox-build-20140224-0225.tar.gz' to 'virtualbox-build-20140224-0225-targz' Send it. I hope this will reach bug triage. My Bug Description included: ERROR OCCUR DURING security-only update ~2200hrs 22 Feb 2014 I was mistaken. As you can see from the attached screen shot of Update Software Source Window, I had not 'reset' selection of 'important security update (precise security). So that it was both' security update (precise security)' and 'Recommended updates (precise updates)' that were executed by Update Manager. It was a surprise to me when I went back to look today. Sorry about the misleading info.
