[Bug 158634] Re: Fn F5 Does not Switch off Wifi in Gutsy - Thinkpad T40 Regression
I may have been mistaken about Fn+F5 ever disabling wireless. Seems like it may have only toggled bluetooth, not wireless. I've been fighting 2 issues, 1st getting bluetooth to work, then getting wireless (802.11) driver iwl3945 adapter to turn on again after resuming from hibernation. On Thinkwik found a solution for enabling wireless. It appears the ath_pci module was being removed on suspension. To prevent, add following file to prevent kernel module from unloading: /etc/pm/confg.d/madwifi SUSPEND_MODULES=ath_pci -- Fn F5 Does not Switch off Wifi in Gutsy - Thinkpad T40 Regression https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158634 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I am not certain the exact version of Firefox, except that more than likely, the latest. I need to back off this report though; you see I did find I could move web pages to another workspace, but not from the individual tabs; only from right clicking the very top bar that all tabs were housed under. Re: [Bug 219275] Re: upon installing uprade to 7.10, I am unable to move firefox tabs to another workspace
Forgive me; I believe I did assert a confusion. It seems that when I do right click the top bar that includes all the tabs, I am able to move at least the set of tabs to another workspace. I thought I had remembered being able to move individual tabs by themselves; perhaps though that feature does not in exist. [Bug 146894] Re: On upgrade to gutsy boot hangs because uswsusp is looking for /dev/hda, but now is /dev/sda
I was hit by this too upgrading from Gutsy to Hardy alpha 6. My hard disk used to be /dev/hda, now it is /dev/sda. In my case it was not obvious what was going wrong because no warnings or errors are displayed while booting, it just hangs with a blank screen. Removing the quiet and splash options from the kernel arguments did the trick but many users probably wouldn't know to do that. Is it possible to either rerun dpkg-reconfigure uswsusp at some point during the upgrade or force the error prompt to display somehow? Or maybe disable resume on startup until it has been explicitly turned on? My Open Office is doing the exact same thing. [Bug 165103] right taskbar went out with reboot of new 7.10 install, now it won't take when I try to set up a new right task bar: yo
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: yelp I am too dumb to say any more, except that I had the most beautiful screen set up with 4 light green (99ff99) task bars around a very brown Ubuntu girl background. Oh wait; I just noticed that it does in fact exist as it emerges as I near it; it has not taken to the appointed color though; it seems that even though I have it registered as being (99ff99) the right task bar is black. Oh wait, it seems that I did not observe the opaque level. I just adjusted that, and it appears to be resolved. Well, something had definitely gone gone wrong there. it appears to be Resolvable; i will know more with my next Reboot. I am just being a squeaky wheel. I hope this helps us all. [Bug 160124] LUKS encrypted loopback files get double mounted, filesystem corruption follows
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libpam-mount libpam-mount fails to detect an already mounted volume when using an encrypted LUKS loopback file. This results in the file being mounted several times at once, leading to file system corruption. The effects of this bug are similar to the one at http://bugs.debian.org /cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=358916 but the cause and fix are different. There is conflicting behavior between the standard mount command and libpam-mount's mount.crypt command. libpam-mount runs the following command: mount -t crypt -ouser,loop /home/dap.img /home/dap This command internally runs /sbin/mount.crypt with (mostly) the same arguments. However, it looks like the mount command intercepts the "-o loop" option and performs a loopback setup of its own, then passes the /dev/loop0 block device to mount.crypt instead of /home/dap.img. The resulting command run by mount is something like this: mount.crypt -ouser,loop /dev/loop0 /home/dap The problem lies in the fact that the mount.crypt script expects the first pathname argument to be the loopback image file, not an already attached loopback block device. As a result mount.crypt does an additional losetup, linking /dev/loop0 to /dev/loop1. So now we have /home/dap.img -> /dev/loop0 (set up by mount), and /dev/loop0 -> /dev/loop1 -> /home/dap (set up by mount.crypt). When a second login happens, libpam-mount first checks the mount table to see if it needs to do the mount or not. However, it is looking for a mountpoint with /dev/mapper/_home_dap.img as the source, not /dev/mapper/_dev_loop1. It decides that /home/dap.img is not already mounted and does it again. To replicate the problem (as root): # create a file based encrypted file system image mkdir /var/tmp/test dd if=/dev/urandom of=/var/tmp/test.img bs=1M count=20 losetup /dev/loop0 /var/tmp/test.img cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/loop0 test mkfs.ext3 /dev/mapper/test cryptsetup luksClose test losetup -d /dev/loop0 # mount the file like libpam-crypt would when logging in mount -t crypt -oloop,user /var/tmp/test.img /var/tmp/test # check mount table and loopback configuration mount losetup /dev/loop0 losetup /dev/loop1 My temporary (and horrible) fix is to stop mount.crypt from doing its own loopback setup, since that is apparently handled automatically before the script is run: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/# diff -uNr /root/pam_mount/bad/mount.crypt /sbin/mount.crypt --- /root/pam_mount/bad/mount.crypt 2007-01-12 05:13:31.0 -0800 +++ /sbin/mount.crypt 2007-11-04 21:38:53.0 -0800 @@ -129,8 +129,11 @@ done IFS="$OLDIFS"; +LOOP=false if [ "$LOOP" == true ]; then +echo "mount.crypt loopback file: $DEVICE" >&2 DEVICE=`_losetup "$DEVICE"`; +echo "mount.crypt loopback device: $DEVICE" >&2 fi # if loop device, make device mapper name based on file pointed to Maybe there is some way to tell the parent mount command not to do any automatic processing? [Bug 116256] OpenVPN lacks support for --tls-remote option
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn The network-manager-openvpn plugin doesn't support the tls-remote option in OpenVPN as a form of server certificate verification. Re: [Bug 82851] Re: synaptic cannot remove fftw3 and libsdl-net1.2
Luckily I've already got the latest version of gdb installed, would I be right in thinking that if I hadn't then apt-get would still try to remove the offending packages before downloading gdb and thus be unable to complete the transaction?
