[Bug 1773810] Re: Power Saving's screen blanking cannot be disabled, even with AC
I believe I've been running into this same bug as well. I've had it with Ubuntu 18.04 and now 20.04 both running as a VM under VirtualBox on Windows 20. I've been able to configure the settings such that the screen will stay on seemingly indefinitely once logged in. The issue occurs at the login greeter screen. I've tried changing the settings mentioned above for both the logged in user account and for the gdm user. I've also tried to configure them via /usr/share/gdm/greeter .dconf-defaults Nothing makes any difference at the login screen. After ~20 minutes the VM's screen goes black and at that point will not come back it just stays black. I am still able to SSH into the VM (which is how I often make use of the vm, though I often do need to access it's GUI.) If anyone has any idea what could be causing the login screen to blank, I'd really appreciate it. I end up having to restart the VM whenever this happens. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1773810 Title: Power Saving's screen blanking cannot be disabled, even with AC To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1773810/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1683990] Re: [Precision 3510, Realtek ALC3235, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all. Resets to mute. No 'Play Sound Through' options
Why is this bug marked as invalid? I believe I am also affected by this bug. I have the same model of Dell (Precision 3510) with a Realtek ALC3235. Audio worked correctly with Ubuntu 14.04 which was pre-installed by Dell. After upgrading to 16.04 I have the issue. When I look in sound settings nothing is listed within the "Play audio through" list under the Output tab. I have been able to use alsamixer to get audio to work when this happens. It seems that the internal speaker has been muted. I recently ran "apt update" and then "apt upgrade" and now I cannot get audio to play through the internal speaker even with alsamixer. The problem seems to have gotten worse. If I connect a headset or an external docking station, audio works fine with those devices. They appear as normal within sound settings. And I am able to configure them without any problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1683990 Title: [Precision 3510, Realtek ALC3235, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all. [Bug 1584475] Re: No input events for FutureMax Dance Mat
Hi, I'm sorry it's been so long since I commented here. Without going into the gory details, my life got to be utterly crazy and I simply had no time to spend on things like this. Things are more settled now, so I think I might be able to go through with this. I was confused on how to get started with the patch submission process. I honestly don't know where to start. Any here able to get me going on that? [Bug 1584475] Re: No input events for FutureMax Dance Mat
I think this bug is affecting me as well. I am also aware of two other bug reports that sound related. Bug #1556444 and bug #1328065. Skimming over the code in the patches I don't think those will work for me. The code specifically looks for this identifier string "FutureMax Dance Mat". My device reports itself with this string "RedOctane USB Pad". So I think the code won't treat my device any differently than the way it's being treated now. kernel: [ 408.450782] usb 4-2.1: Product: RedOctane USB Pad kernel: [ 408.460877] input: RedOctane USB Pad as /devices/pci:00/:00:1a.1/usb4/4-2/4-2.1/4-2.1:1.0/0003:054C:0268.0007/input/input19 kernel: [ 408.520387] sony 0003:054C:0268.0007: input,hiddev0,hidraw3: USB HID v1.11 Joystick [RedOctane USB Pad] on usb-:00:1a.1-2.1/input0 Here's my complete and utter beginner attempt at a modified version of the patch for the 4.8 kernel: diff --git a/drivers/hid/hid-sony.c b/drivers/hid/hid-sony.c index 310436a..29a1aa9 100644 --- a/drivers/hid/hid-sony.c +++ b/drivers/hid/hid-sony.c @@ -51,6 +51,7 @@ #define NAVIGATION_CONTROLLER_USB BIT(9) #define NAVIGATION_CONTROLLER_BT BIT(10) #define SINO_LITE_CONTROLLER BIT(11) +#define FUTUREMAX_DANCE_MAT BIT(12) +#define REDOCTANE_USB_PAD BIT(13) #define SIXAXIS_CONTROLLER (SIXAXIS_CONTROLLER_USB | SIXAXIS_CONTROLLER_BT) #define MOTION_CONTROLLER (MOTION_CONTROLLER_USB | MOTION_CONTROLLER_BT) @@ -1125,7 +1126,7 @@ static u8 *sony_report_fixup(struct hid_device *hdev, u8 *rdesc, { struct sony_sc *sc = hid_get_drvdata(hdev); - if (sc->quirks & SINO_LITE_CONTROLLER) + if (sc->quirks & (SINO_LITE_CONTROLLER | FUTUREMAX_DANCE_MAT | REDOCTANE_USB_PAD)) return rdesc; /* @@ -2289,6 +2290,9 @@ static int sony_probe(struct hid_device *hdev, const struct hid_device_id *id) struct sony_sc *sc; unsigned int connect_mask = HID_CONNECT_DEFAULT; + if (!strcmp(hdev->name, "FutureMax Dance Mat")) + quirks |= FUTUREMAX_DANCE_MAT; + + if (!strcmp(hdev->name, "RedOctane USB Pad")) + quirks |= REDOCTANE_USB_PAD; + sc = devm_kzalloc(>dev, sizeof(*sc), GFP_KERNEL); if (sc == NULL) { hid_err(hdev, "can't alloc sony descriptor\n"); So, I'm going to attempt to produce an actual patch from this and see if it fixes my problem. I'm not 100% certan but I believe bug #1556444 is a duplicate or at least related to this bug. That bug more closely matches the issue I am experiencing. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pipewalker When pipewalker is launched the display becomes corrupt immediately and for a second a buzzing sound comes from the speakers. [Bug 477430] Re: grub 2 error: out of disk. failed to boot default entries. press any key to continue...
@Chris I didn't. I ended up playing around with grub-mkimage and built my own grub core image. That's been allowing me to boot off of the SD card. [Bug 477430] Re: grub 2 error: out of disk. failed to boot default entries. press any key to continue...
Hello, First off, sorry about the status changes. I have to be more careful when I click. Anyway, this bug also affects me. Although my case might be unique. I installed Ubuntu-9.10 to an SD card and with a purposefully made kernel i was able to get it to boot from that. Then for no reason I can come up with I started getting this error: out of disk. I played around with manually reinstalling GRUB2 which for a while only seemed to make matters worse. Now I am back to the error: out of disk. A little GRUB2 specific info: I get the out of disk error when I try a few commands from the grub rescue prompt the error leaves me at: grub rescue insmod /boot/grub/normal.mod error: out of disk -- grub 2 error: out of disk. failed to boot default entries. press any key to continue... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477430 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
