This color is by design. It is dictated by usability reasons and would not be
changed in the default theme. You could use the New Wave Configurator to change

Ok now that you explained better I would agree with you. I have proposed
such thing to be done an eyar ago but nobody did anything to make it gtk
reliant. If it is possible to change some property and get that behavior
- I'll do it in the next version of the theme but if it's an engine
thing - I wouldn't because I don't knowhow to code it.

[Bug 566297] Re: Panel colors should match rest of New Wave theme

2010-04-19 Thread Dilomo
I have to say that New Wave is a theme that is almost 2 years old
(version 0.3 is the first public one [1]) and Radiance is based on parts
of it and parts of dust. My design vision is that the panel should be
darker then the rest (or the window's top (menubar+titlebar) should be
lighter than the panel to say it the other way) unlike dust which used
very dark window's top.

уведомят, но ако е при тях (както може би е) те трябва да се постараят и

Благодаря ти, че се постара да помогнеш при решаването на проблема с

дали мога да го оправя ;)

И така за нашата неразбираща публика: So the problem is solved.

2009-11-20 Thread Dilomo
Well the thing is that the panel cannot be themed via the image {...}
functions but only by the bg_pixmap[NORMAL] and so on variables. That is
a know problem for this engine and if somebody could write  image {...}
functions for the panel that would be great. Still notice that Gnome 3
is coming shortly and that should fix all problem with panels as in the
new Desktop it has been totally rewritten and presents different
functionality. I'm not sure if it is themeble by that time but it sure
will be in the near future.

[Bug 339530] Re: newwave missing userchrome.css

2009-08-27 Thread Dilomo
If this is not included I would recommend at least installing this skin:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/11239
so that the user could switch to it easily in the Themes dialog. Also you
should note that FF 3.6 will not have that problem with my theme but I would
still recommend it's inclusion because it provides one more elegant solution.

[Bug 416030] Re: New Wave's thumbnails are corrupted (in Appearance Preferences)

2009-08-21 Thread Dilomo
That's really strange. Unfortunately I'm in summer break now and I don't have
Ubuntu pc near me. Sorry I can't test. It worked with me before. But I have an
idea if you are willing to edit some lines of the gtkrc file. The style to
search for is :
'style newwave-frame'

it is empty in this release but I think it should not be. You should
either not apply it by:

class GtkFramestyle newwave-frame
widget_class *.GtkFrame.*   style newwave-frame

or use null image for frame background like this:

style newwave-frame
{
  engine pixmap
  {
image
{

function = SHADOW
file = Images/Others/null.png
border = {1, 1, 1, 1}
stretch = TRUE
}
  }
}

or try this out instead of the provided style for window:

style newwave-window
{
bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = Images/Others/null.png
}

[Bug 160311] Re: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult

2009-08-06 Thread Dilomo
I see that this is the only solution but that will harm a lot of themes
including mine that has created the window border design for one pixel
width. The only winners would be the very generic themes that nobody
wants to use anymore, imo.

I suspect all the new changes will come in Mutter and Gnome 3.0 so we
should not expect much in the upcoming year about fixing this right now.

[Bug 160311] Re: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult

2009-08-05 Thread Dilomo
Just my opinion:

The borders should not be modified in the metacity xml file so that you could
resize properly. We should not change the designers idea of theme and make it
look ugly by making borders from 1px to 5-6px. We could not ask the Average Joe
to do this by himself. He just wants to use his PC not configure it one week.
The best ideas so far are:
 * making a transparent area that would ease users of large screens (Is it
possible Thomas?)
 * make the pointer snap to the border

We could even combine these two and the result would be perfect.

Good work javs! Can somebody else confirm the problem is fixed?

As for the progressbar: this is the only place in the theme I used such
a big images because they gave much sharper look than if they were
stretched. But I will try to achieve the same result with smaller
stretched images. Javs can you try to make the overlay_stretch to FALSE
and see if that fixes the problem too (with large images)?

OK. I guess I'll have to think of a way to make a sharp progressbar with
a small stretched image in order to allow you to work with eclipse and
notes. I realize 50% of CPU power is a bit more for drawing but the
pixmap engine is getting old and it could further be optimized for less
CPU usage and even GPU usage only. But let's hope that happens in Gnome
3.0 :)

[Bug 334991] Re: Eclipse takes 100% CPU with New Wave theme

2009-07-22 Thread Dilomo
Well let's revisit the bug:
 - eclipse does not work with compact setting
 - Notes does not work with these settings too.

So we might try to not apply the compact styles used in New Wave and see
what happens. Here's how we do it:

1. Find the line in your New Wave gtkrc file (~/.themes/ or /usr/share/themes/):
widget *swt*toolbar*  style:highest newwave-toolbar-noimage-small

2. Comment it out like that:
# widget *swt*toolbar*style:highest
newwave-toolbar-noimage-small

3.Save the gtkrc ile and reset the theme from the Appearance manager

Is there any difference? Maybe the match *swt*toolbar* is not correct. Try to
remove the star at the end to apply to the toolbar only not the widgets in it:
*swt*toolbar . Any other results?

I think that you should report the problem in the thunderbird bugzilla
as well as in the New Wave project.

[Bug 334991] Re: Eclipse takes 100% CPU with New Wave theme

2009-04-28 Thread Dilomo
I can't confirm the problem on my computer with Jaunty and eclipse
3.2.2-5ubuntu3. See attached screenshot (and the CPU applet at the top
right). Btw can you test if the theme provided here is causing this bug:

http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/New+Wave?content=87134

If no the we should search the problem in the Ubuntu intsallation of the
theme.

[Bug 334991] Re: Eclipse takes 100% CPU with New Wave theme

2009-04-28 Thread Dilomo
As a conclusion I have to say that maybe the problem is in Eclipse not
being able to interpret certain values from the gtkrc file.

Lacho: I may help you out make a more compact version of the theme. As
a start have a look a the New Wave Dark menus provided with the theme
package in the gnome-look link. It has inherited the base new wave gtkrc
file and modified certain values in order to make the menus look dark.
Probably the same approach could be taken in order to make smaller New
Wave theme.

I have fixed this. See:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/anton/+bug/320097

There might be a problem with the default jaunty installation of the
theme but as everything else is themed and working I have no clue what
this might be.

[Bug 335496] Re: Menus in Firefox and Thunderbird are dark in the New Wave theme

2009-04-24 Thread Dilomo
If I had an opportunity to fix this I would have done it in the gtkrc
file. If you think you can provide patch that works I would be very glad
to see it.

I have tried the following methous but have commented them because they don't
work:
#widget_class MozillaGtkWidget*MenuBarstyle :highest
newwave-menubar#-mozilla
#widget MozillaGtkWidget*Menu*style :highest
newwave-menu-item-mozilla

Still a comparison with Dust is not acceptable as it has dark menus all
over and comparison with dust sand is also not good because it have
light bg for the menubar. The case of New Wave is specific and only
fixably by Firefox coders or a theme that I have provided.

[Bug 335496] Re: Menus in Firefox and Thunderbird are dark in the New Wave theme

2009-04-02 Thread Dilomo
Excuse me John but can you tell me one pure gtk/gnome app that have this
problem?

I have to say that the problem is not in my theme but in the
inappropriate faking of FF and OO and any other program that imitates
gtk with no luck. Btw all applications written for the Java platform
also use the theme correctly so I don't agree with you.

2009-04-01 Thread Dilomo
I agree about the toolbars but in default Ubuntu Installation they are
below the navigation toolbar.

I think that the problematic apps should fix this issues not Ubuntu by
making alternative versions.

Depending fg on bg color is not possible in FF as far as I know.

[Bug 117132] Re: Firefox ignores gnome theme's specific menu bar text color

2009-03-30 Thread Dilomo
I'm the developer of New Wave and I can certainly say Firefox ignores
theme settings. Other dark themes display proper menubar because their
menus are dark with white font. With New Wave only the menubar is like
that and the menus are light. On the other hand if you use the theme New
Wave Dark Menus it will be fixed. Recenly I developed a firefox theme
that fixes this and adds some more tweaks to the tabs and Organzie
bookmarks window. See Bug #335496 for more details.

2009-03-28 Thread Dilomo
@ nullack
I don't know if this is possible but I agree that this would be the perfect
solution.

@ Merijn
Nope, it is not possible as these programs use custom widgets that imitate gtk
but not very well thus resulting in serious conflicts sometimes.

[Bug 335496] Re: Menus in Firefox and Thunderbird are dark in the New Wave theme

2009-03-27 Thread Dilomo
Your bookmarks toolbars are dark because they are not intended to be
placed in the menubar but in the area below the addressbar that is
light. I can't create (or at least don't know how) dynamic toolbar that
changes color depending on backgrounds. As for now most ppl use the
second method I will keep this version as current.

[Bug 347691] Re: New Wave Theme Breaks BookMark Tool in FF

2009-03-24 Thread Dilomo
As noted in bug this is an issue of incorrect theme applying form the
side of FF. I'm currently making a theme that fixes this (still not
final and a lot of work is going to be done to make the theme look
equivalent to the quality of New Wave). See screenshot. Btw would it be
possible this theme to be installed to Ubuntu too?
