[Bug 1681513] Re: Ubuntu 17.04: New privacy feature in NetworkManager stops some USB WiFi adapters from working (mac address randomization)

2017-04-19 Thread Don Cady
I have this problem too. Adding wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no to
NetworkManager.conf does resolve it.

A relevant question: Why does this only affect usb wifi dongles? My
internal iwl3945 chip was/is not affected. How does Network Manager
treat pci and usb devices differently?

[Bug 1313415] Re: Dragging .desktop files on the Desktop attempts to copy, not reposition

2014-08-16 Thread Don Cady
I have a box that does the same, only more detail; [A] It was doing copies when
you initiated a move for .desktop files., only the .desktop extension was
dropped.
[B] It now produces the same error as above, with Error opening file '/': Is a
directory in more details. I'm assuming that changed with some package
update[C].
Now the weird (but maybe forensicly helpful) part: It still does A with files
created before point C, but B with files created after C.

Also, this looks like a candidate for being a dupe of Bug #1245214

[Bug 612377] Re: [needs-packaging] libjpeg-turbo

2010-10-28 Thread Don Cady
I concur. I know this is ancillary, but libjpeg-turbo sigificantly
improved/decreased my proc usage on my zoneminder install.
Also, It looks like Mozilla is working on bundling this in FF now:

See that bug for their licensing considerations, as this is apparently under
the 'wxWindows Library License'.

[Bug 213154] [NEW] mythtv setup mythfilldatabase crashing on first run-1

2008-04-06 Thread Don Cady
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythtv

Mythbuntu Hardy-8.04, mythtv updated to 0.21.0+fixes16838-0ubuntu1 (via
apt-cache policy info)
This Apport capture is mythtv backend setup crashing. Right after this,
mythfilldatabase does too. That was filed as bug #212461. This occurs first,
but I didn't get this Apport capture first, so the mythfilldatabase crash got
an earlier bug #.
Expected: Mythtv setup to start to it's first screen.
What happened: a small terminal-like window opened with nothing inside. Nothing
else opened until the crash reporter.
