Theo, your workaround helps a lot. Any disadvantages to this option
being set to true? I don't see any right now. It works good.

[Bug 1808352] [NEW] Context menus spawn in a way that causes unintended clicks when using Firefox CSD

2018-12-13 Thread Douglas H. Silva
Public bug reported:

HOW TO REPRODUCE
1 - First, open Firefox, enable Client Side Decoration, restart the program.
2 - Open some webpage, make sure you navigate a bit, leaving behind pages that
can be returned to.
3 - Then right click anywhere on the current page. On my system, the context
menu 'back' button appears right beneath the mouse cursor, and a click is
automatically inserted there, making the page 'go back' everytime you right
click with the mouse.

[Bug 1798961] Re: Random unrecoverable freezes on Ubuntu 18.10

2018-11-25 Thread Douglas H. Silva
teresaejunior, could you try that:

"Can you try 4.20-rc2 and boot with kernel parameter `pcie_aspm=off`?"

I suggest first trying 4.20-rcX and seeing if it freezes at least once.
If it does, try booting for a few days with pcie_aspm=off in the kernel
parameters. Post back results.

I can't do that right now, because I'm not currently running Ubuntu
18.10.

It happened again.
See the attachment of the output of journalctl -b -1 -k

This time I was just editing the position of widgets on the xfce4-panel.
I think it was around 11:45 on the clock.

And I do not have a .cache/thumbnails/fail folder.

The problem is, it could take days before the system freezes. I don't
know how to reproduce, it simply happens. I don't even know where to
start. Maybe 4.17-rc1 and so on. But that's a huge task and one needs a
lot of patience to do it. I'm not sure I'll be able to.

[Bug 1798961] Re: Random unrecoverable freezes on Ubuntu 18.10

2018-10-21 Thread Douglas H. Silva
** Description changed:

First thing I notice is that the mouse cursor freezes as I'm using it,
then I hit the CAPS LOCK key and the LED indicator doesn't respond. Then
I try the "REISUB" command, but it doesn't do anything either. Only a
hard reset works, pressing down the power button for a few seconds.

  How to reproduce?
- I couldn't figure out a consistent method. It is still random to me, although
it seems to happen more often when I'm running Xfce (Xubuntu) on a recent
kernel (4.17+). Xfce's default image viewer seems to be connected to it, as
well. Most of the time I was having multiple instances of it when everything
froze.
+ I couldn't figure out a consistent method. It is still random to me.

  Version: Ubuntu 4.18.0-10.11-generic 4.18.12
  System information attached.

Also happens under Arch Linux and Fedora.
+ I've talked to another user on IRC who seems to be having the same freezes.

I am failing to boot from this new kernel. Downloaded the amd64 build
files, 'sudo dpkg -i ' on each of them, but upon trying to boot
from the new entries, it stops with "you need to load the kernel first".
I really need some help figuring out my mistake here. I did my homework
but no solutions yet. First time doing this.

This is the bug report opened for Arch Linux [TASK FS#59483]:

https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/59483?string=freeze=1%5B0%5D=%5B0%5D=%5B0%5D=%5B0%5D=%5B0%5D=%5B0%5D=%5B0%5D=open%5B0%5D

The OP reports 4.17.10-1 being the problematic kernel version. What I
can say for sure is that this problem did not exist in kernel versions
4.16 and older.

Yes, I can try the newest kernel, however these freezes are random and I
don't know how to trigger them. I will take some time to experiment with
it.

Fedora's kernel version: 4.12.13-300.fc26.x86_64

Both are affected. Ubuntu LTS is not, though. I don't remember 17.04.

I can install the mainline 4.13 kernel for Fedora. If Ubuntu is really
needed, I don't mind installing it here.

Public bug reported:

Symptoms:

The computer begins its boot process, then the root decryption password
prompt appears (via Plymouth) and I start typing. The first letters are
caught, but some letters are not captured. It's as if the keyboard shut
down during a few seconds and then returned, and I could type the whole
password properly.

Things I tried:

- Typing the password blindly (just inputting the entire password and hitting
Enter without worrying about missing characters) but it rejected the password
as incorrect.
- Typing decryption password without Plymouth (this is not a Plymouth bug).

This affects Debian 9 (didn't affect Debian 8), Fedora, Arch Linux and possibly
others. It cannot be reproduced with Ubuntu or other distributions with old
packages. Some component introduced this problem recently.

because I'm running Debian Stretch just fine there.

I fixed it with `sudo systemctl enable bluetooth` followed by a reboot.
It will print something to the terminal when you enable. Something else
must have disabled bluetooth.

[Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2017-02-28 Thread Douglas H. Silva
The applet started functioning properly after 16.04.2. If the problem
was Intel drivers, it solved it. Intel Wireless 3160 + Ubuntu MATE with
kernel 4.8.0-39-generic. Confirm this.
