2014-04-03 Thread George Dvorak
I have startcenter as a panel icon and it does not work as the original
poster says. From the Application Launcher Writer also fails in the dame
way. Calc works. When clicking on a libreoffice file that works
correctly. I have attached the /home/gld/.local/share/applications/
desktop files for anyone who wants to inspect them.

Well, I can only attach one file, So this is fir Writer which has the
problem.

[Bug 1296228] [NEW] manual install second partition BOOM

2014-03-23 Thread George Dvorak
Public bug reported:

This happens repeatedly. Slightly better if I first go to try Kubuntu
and then install from there. Some times I can manually set up two
partitions, then I continue the install and change /etc/fstab later. At
times though I crash on the second partition which is /home.

I rarely get this crash report!

I did do the check of the disk and that was good. Also I have run
memtest for over an hour without an error.

This happens with Kubunti 13.?? also but I don't believe that I ever got
the bug reporter.

This is Kubuntu 14.04 LTS, at least that is what shows on thhe test
screen.

I have partitions for installing five linux versions and Windows 8.1.

/home/myToshiba
/home/myWindows

I have had similar failures with Kubuntu 13.10 and with Kubunntu13.04 to
a lesser exstent.

Ubuntu 13.10 installs without a problem. but I detest the user
interface!

Please, please help. I want to be able to use Kubuntu.file:

I hope I have done the correct thing with these two logs. The instructions are
to attach the log files, but ther is no elaboration about how to attach the
files.

[Bug 1007371] Re: Precise - bonding without link aggregation

2012-06-24 Thread Dvorak David
To switch - servers (A and B) are connected to same switch and
configuration of ports is the same (and server A works fine).
To failover test - this weekend I tested failover again. Now when unplug two
ports. (In the previous test I unplug only one port). Result is this :
- when unplug two ports and run test from only one PC, throughput is 790Mbps
(from PC1) or 800 (from PC2). It does not matter which two ports I unplug
- when unplug two ports and run test simultaneously from PC1 and from PC2
result is 390Mbps (PC1) and 391 Mbps (PC2)
- when unplug only one port and run test simultaneously from PC1 and from PC2
result is 428 Mbps (PC1) and 446 Mbps (PC2). In iptraf on server I see, that
for connection to PC1 is working one eth port and when start test on PC2 join
to work second eth port.

[Bug 1007371] Re: Precise - bonding without link aggregation

2012-06-11 Thread Dvorak David
I'm sure that's bug, but I do not know if in kernel or bonding driver. Next - I
think, that is it critical bug. For corporate sector is bonding on server (I
think) very important and without link aggregation is that server in large
network unusable. For example, our network has about 100 PCs (~80 Thin client
and ~20 full PC) and throughput in this network is one of the decisive. So -
if 12.04 LTS server has bonding without link aggregation - in this case I can't
upgrade servers from 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS.
As I described above, bonding in 10.04 LTS is O.K. - working as failover and as
link aggregation. But in Precise bonding is working only as failover. Link
agregation NOT WORKING. You can have several gigabit NICs in bonding, but total
throughput (bandwidth) to server is only ~1Gbps (for three NICs in Precise is
3x ~305 Mbits/sec, but for three NICs in Lucid is 3x ~925Mbps).
Precise server has :
- 3.2.0-24-generic #39-Ubuntu SMP Mon May 21 16:52:17 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64
x86_64 GNU/Linux
- Ethernet Channel Bonding Driver: v3.7.1 (April 27, 2011)
- config of bonding is above

802.3ad capable Cisco.
Throughput to server A is OK - from one PC with Gigabit NIC is ~925
Mbits/sec, from two PCs (tested simultaneously) is still 2x ~925 Mbits/sec.
Ethernet Channel Bonding Driver is v3.5.0 (November 4, 2008).

But throughput to server B (with the same NIC interfaces configuration
as server A) is without link aggregation - from one PC with Gigabit
NIC is ~925 Mbits/sec, from two PCs is 2x ~460 Mbits/sec, from three PCs
is 3x ~305 Mbits/sec etc. With iptraf I see, that all port is working,
but without link aggregation.

[Bug 818561] [NEW] All external usb devices running at USB 1.1, internal camera and hard drivers at usb 2.0

2011-07-30 Thread Dvorak
Public bug reported:

I am having issues with usb speed on my Asus G51VX-RX05 laptop. Bios
settings have been checked and are not the problem.

All usb device run at 1.5 or 12 Mbps, while my internal 1.3 UVC webcam
and both internal sata drivers run at 480 Mbps no problem.

Keyboard runs at 1.5, mouse and external webcam at 12, and also my
Creative X-fi 5.1 usb soundcard runs at 12.

This causes issues when running skype and listening to music, as the
audio pops and I get mouse lag due to the slow USB speed.

However, USB sticks and external hard drives run at full 2.0 speed.

[Bug 481210] Re: The 4Diamonds is jaggedly cutoff. I will include a snapshot.

2009-11-16 Thread George Dvorak
I play a lot of kpat and this was the first time that I saw a card
cutoff. Since then, however, I see it on various cards and in various
ways quite often. It would appear that there has been a change in the
code as I have been using this machine for a few months. This does not
interfere with my playing. If I cover the card with another card and
then undo, the missing portion is still missing. This would indicate
that the card face is not being redrawn. Moving the card removes the
missing portion. These occurrences cannot be reproduced. I would guess
that it takes at least an hour of play to hope to see an occurrence.

One thing that is constant is that the Ace of Clubs is missing the lower
left A. I expect that this is only for the card face that I use.
