I see that the package creates a couchdb system user, and it appears the
init script is correctly running Couch as that user.
So, when I do `sudo -u couchdb couchdb`, I can see /var/run/couchdb is
incorrectly owned by root:

[UIFe] New copy for Ubuntu installer slideshow

A recent screenshot would be nice to see. This bug loves to pop up
unexpectedly, but I could have sworn it went away with Precise. (At any
rate, overlay scrollbars should solve this on their own, so I'm curious
that they aren't here).
Did you happen to open and close the Details pane? I have only
Hold on a tick, that doesn't make sense to me. It sounds like you are
acknowledging this is a problem that _would_ be fixed given resources.
Is that correct?
Also, when you refer to the time frame, do you just mean within the
Quantal cycle, or is that all the time being allocated to the feature?
Does this happen to the tab bar if you open a new tab in gedit? I think
we might be seeing the same bug, but I'm not sure.

Just waiting on some final pieces here and that screenshots branch will
be merged. It doesn't actually have new screenshots yet, but it does
have a quetzal :)
(I needed to crop the quetzal illustration, so I'm hoping the folks who
made it at Canonical can do that a little better on their end).
