[Bug 825370] [NEW] Ubuntu Start menu does not fit a 10 inches screen

2011-08-12 Thread EagleScreen
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Start menu does not fit a 10 inches screen, common in numerous
netbooks, please see the screen-shot attached and pay special attention in the
Listen to music entry, you will see that the string is out of the screen.
In addiction, the elements are not well centered, there is much free space on
the left of the screen, and not enough space on the right, where icon names are
out of the screen.

[Bug 794320] [NEW] Some .desktop files are not translated

2011-06-07 Thread EagleScreen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

The .desktop files under /usr/share/kde4/apps/solid/actions/ are not
translated, they are used by the KDE device notifier applet as you can view on
the screenshot i am attaching.
We look up the translations with X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain, so to patch either

[Bug 793792] [NEW] New users in admin group cannot use policykit

2011-06-06 Thread EagleScreen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: policykit-1

New created users in admin, can't get privileges via policykit to do
administrative tasks.
If I create a new administrator user with adduser --ingroup admin username is
with the intention of he/she to can administrate the system, and he/she won't
be able to do it if a policykit authentication is needed, because policykit
asks for root password, and not for the user password.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Create a new admin user with adduser --ingroup admin username.
2) Login with the new user.
3) Delete the old administrator user (installation user).
3) Try to administrate the system with any tool which requires policykit
authentication.
4) You won't be able because the policykit dialog asks for the root password,
not for your user password, and the old administrator account has been deleted.

New created administrator users should be able to do administrative
tasks with policykit authentication.

[Bug 669558] [NEW] [MIR] synaptiks

2010-11-01 Thread EagleScreen
Public bug reported:

This is a Main Inclusion Request for synaptiks package.

1. Availability:

The package is already in universe and it builds for i386, amd64, armel and
powerpc which are the architectures that exist in Natty.

2. Rationale:

The package replaces another package we currently support and promises higher
quality and/or better features, so that we can drop the old package from the
supported set. Synaptiks replaces kcm-touchpad.
In addiction, this package helps to meet better this Blueprint goal:
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/kubuntu-lucid-touchpad-config

3. Security:

The following checks have been done and no vulnerabilities have been
found:

 - There aren't results found searching in the National Vulnerability
Database using the package as a keyword.
http://cve.mitre.org/cve/cve.html

 - There aren't results found in http://secunia.com/advisories/search/:
searching for the package as a keyword.

 - There aren't references to this package in Ubuntu CVE Tracker
(universe, main and partner).

 - The package does not install executables in /sbin, /usr/sbin

 - The package does not install init scripts in /etc/init.d/

 - As far as we know, the package does not open privileged ports (ports
 1024).

 - As far as we know, the package does not provide add-ons or plugins to
security-sensitive software in the system.

 - The package ships a KDE daemon (kded daemon)
(/usr/lib/kde4/kded_synaptiks.so)

4. Quality assurance:

  - The package is easily usable after installation across the KDE
Systemsettings control center.

  - The package does not ask for debconf questions.

  - There are signs about upstream still cares for this package. Upstream
feedback can be found in the project upstream page in:
http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/synaptiks?content=114270

  - There isn't major bugs open against synaptiks, only one minor bug found in
DBTS: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=597038, this bug seems
to be trivial of fixing.

  - The package is well maintained in Debian by the KDE Extras Team, and in
Ubuntu by the Ubuntu Developers and also has interest by the Kubuntu
Developers.

  - The package does not deal with exotic hardware we doesn't support.

  - The package does not ship a test suit.

5. UI standards:

  - Synaptiks is translatable to other languages and in fact, it has already
translations for several languages. It uses the KDE translation way, as it is a
KDE application.

  - The package ships a standard conformant .desktop file easily accesible from
the KDE Systemsettings control center.

6. Dependencies:

 - All synaptiks dependencies (included build depedencies) are already
included in main repository section.

7. Standards compliance:

  - The package complains with the Debian Standards version 3.8.4 as like as
specified in the debian source package.
  - We haven't found any aspect which contradicts the Filesystem Hierarchy
Standard.

8. Maintenance:

  - The package is well maintained in Debian by the KDE Extras Team, and in
Ubuntu by the Ubuntu Developers and also has interest by the Kubuntu
Developers.

9. Background information:

  - The package description seems to be very complete and understandable:
 touchpad configuration tool (synaptiks)
synaptiks touchpad configuration tool. this package contains a
configuration tool for touchpads. The package provides a kcm
module (for systemsettings), as well as a plasma widget and kded
module to help managing touchpads, especially in KDE environments

[Bug 606563] [NEW] Please add a splash/progress bar to hibernate process

2010-07-16 Thread EagleScreen
Public bug reported:

When user hibernate (suspend to disk) Ubuntu, any splash or progress bar is
displayed, the screen just sometimes freeze or sometimes become black until
hibernate is finally done.
This can confuse the user because he is not sure if hibernate process is going
on property.
Please add a splash screen or progress bar for hibernate process like other
distros do (for instance OpenSuse).

Yes this is still in lucid, this could be focused as a KDE4 issue rather
than a ntfs-3g issue, Dolphin should warn user in a non-intrusive

he is copying hundreds of files.

[Bug 424021] Re: Popup messages sometimes appears on the top when the applet is on the bottom.

2010-07-15 Thread EagleScreen
Hello, I am very sorry by replying too late.
This is still reproducible in Lucid, with checkgmail -update recently run (now
in checkgmail v1.14pre-svn).
To have the single panel, you must move the desired Gnome widgets to one single
panel, by unlocking and dragging them, then you delete the panel in the top of
screen.
You can also change the position of the top panel to bottom in Properties -
Orientation (see the new screenshot).
Unfortunately I haven't found a pattern to reproduce always the bug, but it
happens sometimes.
Thanks you very much.

[Bug 542378] Re: Not reached assertion failed in boredom_timeout

2010-03-24 Thread EagleScreen
This also happens with default Lucid kernel.

Ubuntu lucid sometimes cannot boot, this usually happens after install some new
packages or after install some updates, so will this issue be related to
package management in any way?
When the issue occurs, the playmouth boot splash is showed and never ends, if I
hit enter, then splash goes away and this message appears:
mountall: mountall.c:2726: Not reached assertion failed in boredom_timeout
After this Ubuntu drops to a maintenance shell.
