[Bug 1285488] [NEW] error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/gnome-session_3.11.4-0ubuntu1~trusty1_all.deb (--unpack)

2014-02-26 Thread Elias Ps
Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS 64bit with the following PPAs included in the
Software Sources:
1) gnome3
2) gnome3-staging
2) gnome3-next
I get the following error when executing 'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade':

Preparing to unpack .../gnome-session_3.11.4-0ubuntu1~trusty1_all.deb ...

My installations is two days old.
I've never seen the '(Broken pipe)' reference before, so I assume this is a
packaging issue.

I don't know what information to provide, so I kindly ask for your
understanding and guidance if more information is needed.
Attached to the report are the outputs of:
1) cat /etc/apt/sources.list
2) ls /etc/apt/sources.list.d
3) uname -a

And here is the full output of 'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade':

This didn't happen on the last two reboots.
Tweak Tool worked properly.
I update my system regularly.
Did something change?

[Bug 1247279] [NEW] GNOME Tweak Tool crashes when enabling 'Activities configurator' extension [gnome-tweak-tool crashed with SIGSEGV in sem_post()]

2013-11-01 Thread Elias Ps
Public bug reported:

GNOME Tweak Tool crashes when enabling the 'Activities configurator' extension
in Ubuntu GNOME 13.10, using GNOME 3.10.1, installed from the following PPAs:
   - gnome3-team/gnome3-staging :
https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/gnome3-staging
   - gnome3-team/gnome3-next :
https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/gnome3-next

This problem is probably caused as a result of the bug #1236749
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1236749).
After every reboot all pre-enabled GNOME Shell extensions are disabled,
so one must enable them manually at every startup (if not using the
workarounds).

Having installed a number of extensions including the 'Activities
Configurator', every time I try to enable the installed extensions after
a reboot using gnome-tweak-tool, it crashes when I turn the 'Activities
Configurator' ON. This doesn't happen with any other extention, but the
Activities Configurator. The 'Activities Configurator' turns ON normally
as it should, but gnome-tweak-tool crashes instantly afterwards.

The strange thing is that the crash occurs only the first time I try to
enable this extension. After gnome-tweak-tool crashes I launch it again
and turn the 'Activities Configurator' ON OFF (enabling/disabling
multiple times) and gnome-tweak-tool doesn't crash, but works as it
supposed to.

How to reproduce:
   1) In Ubuntu GNOME add the above PPAs to the Software Sources.
   2) Update and upgrade using: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
   3) After rebooting install the Activities Configurator extension from
https://extensions.gnome.org/
   4) Reboot - The extension(s) now should be disabled because of bug #1236749.
   5) Launch gnome-tweak-tool and turn on the 'Activities Configurator'
extension.

What happens:
   1) The extension turns ON, as it should.
   2) gnome-tweak-tool crashes (that's the problem)

What should happen:
   1) gnome-tweak-tool should stay open and functional after enabling the
extension.

I repeat that this happens only the first time that I enable the
extension after a reboot. If I disable it and re-enable it during the
same session, gnome-tweak-tool won't crash.

The information collected by apport are attached to the report.

Thanks.

[Bug 1158750] Re: Ubiquity does not create correct UTF-8 locales

2013-04-08 Thread Elias Ps
Russian locale is not affected.
I installed Ubuntu 13.04 on VirtualBox, using English system language and
changed the location (from Athens, Greece which is auto-detected) to Moscow,
Russia.
After the installation the Time Date indicator was looking corrent (with
Russian language), so was the calendar.

[Bug 1158750] Re: Ubiquity does not create correct UTF-8 locales

2013-03-23 Thread Elias Ps
I am also affected by this bug, another workaround for Greek users is to change
the location from Athens, Greece (which is autodetected) to something else (ex.
New York, US), but this is not a solution.
In (now official) Ubuntu GNOME 13.04, the same bug causes problems on GDM and
GNOME Shell and they are unable to load (JS ERROR on
/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/dateMenu.js due to the locales issue), so users
cannot login and use the D.E.

I just reinstalled Ubuntu 12.04 with all updates and my audio card works just
fine.
I am not sure if there was a recent kernel update that fixed it. So in my case
the sound card just works with a fresh installation of Ubuntu 12.04.

[Bug 1030320] Re: [HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, IDT 92HD75B3X5, Speaker, Internal] No automute - Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32bit

2012-07-29 Thread Elias Ps
** Description changed:

  Hello.

I had a problem with the output of my internal speakers, when I had
headphones connected to my Hp Pavilion dv6 laptop, via jack port. The sound
output was generated from both my internal speakers and the headphones, instead
of coming only from the headphones (jack-sense issue).
I modified the contect of the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and set the
options snd-hda-intel model option to hp-dv5 instead of auto and that
solved my problem. After rebooting, the speakers are muted while jack
headphones are connected to my laptop, as they should.

It is worth to mention that this solution only worked for the 1.0.25 version
of the driver. I also applied the solution while having the 1.0.24 version, but
it didn't work. I lost sound from my internal speakers no matter if the
headphones were connected or not.
- I didn't have the same problem on Ubuntu 11.10 and older installations on my
laptop. My current installation clean, I formatted my hard drive and
installed the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32bit, I didn't upgrade to it.

Could you please add in the Alsa code the correct PCI ID for my audio
card so that it works by default with the 'hp-dv5' model?

[Bug 1030320] [NEW] [HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, IDT 92HD75B3X5, Speaker, Internal] No automute - Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32bit

2012-07-28 Thread Elias Ps
Public bug reported:

Hello.

I had a problem with the output of my internal speakers, when I had headphones
connected to my Hp Pavilion dv6 laptop, via jack port. The sound output was
generated from both my internal speakers and the headphones, instead of coming
only from the headphones (jack-sense issue).
I modified the contect of the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and set the
options snd-hda-intel model option to hp-dv5 instead of auto and that
solved my problem. After rebooting, the speakers are muted while jack
headphones are connected to my laptop, as they should.

It is worth to mention that this solution only worked for the 1.0.25 version of
the driver. I also applied the solution while having the 1.0.24 version, but it
didn't work. I lost sound from my internal speakers no matter if the headphones
were connected or not.
I didn't have the same problem on Ubuntu 11.10 and older installations on my
laptop. My current installation clean, I formatted my hard drive and
installed the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32bit, I didn't upgrade to it.

Could you please add in the Alsa code the correct PCI ID for my audio
card so that it works by default with the 'hp-dv5' model?

Here are some more info regarding my installation:
