I finally figured out how the input hotplug stuff works. So I disabled it (AutoAddDevices false) and tried the old mouse driver. No difference. So I'm pretty sure this is not a bug in evdev or mouse, as both drivers display the bug. So everything points now to the kernel. Using 2.6.27-11 makes no difference. However, if I plug an USB audio Headset, mouse behavior worsens a lot. May this bug be related to the number of usb devices on the system? It seems the issue is the button_release event (of the last tab closing) is called with no cur_tab, and then GTK+ crashes.
