[Bug 629560] [NEW] Wi-fi doesn't work when booting or resuming from suspend while on battery

2010-09-03 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

When I start my laptop, running on batteries, wifi failed to work
properly.

Network manager shows a message saying my laptop is connected to my wifi
network, but in fact the newtork is unreachable. After a while, network
manager shows a broken network icon (with the red exclamation mark).

I'm able to make the wifi works by switching off then on the radio
devices (RF_KILL switch).

[Bug 627414] [NEW] Add an option to switch to external screen when closing the lid and on main power

2010-08-31 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

So far, it seems it fixed this issue.

[Bug 581579] [NEW] Sometimes, notification icon and indicator are both displayed

2010-05-17 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

[Bug 269302] Re: At the GDM scree, Dell 610 laptop screen remains on while on a docking station and with an external screen connected

2010-05-05 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
it's still there in a final lucid installation.

If I recall correctly, it used to work for a while during lucid
development. But not anymore.

I've tried to do apport-collect 269302, but it failed saying no
additional informations were collected with the following message on
the console:

Package xorg-server not installed and no hook available, ignoring.

If it can help, there is no xorg.conf file in /etc/X11.

[Bug 570965] Re: [RV280] Degraded performance after some minutes of use

2010-04-27 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
But after a while, suddenly, performances are degraded severely. It's
particularly obvious on window content scrolling (a firefox page for
example), or when playing with the nautilus selection rectangle on the
desktop (the one you get when you click on the desktop, then move the
mouse around). The mouse cursor movement is choppy.

When the system is idle, there's no anormal cpu use. When I move things,
cpu use goes up to 100%.

I've tried to get an oprofile report done when playing with the nautilus
selection rectangle. Here's the result:

Using ccsm, the parameter is Lighting in the Display settings tab of
General compiz options.

If I unset this boolean parameter, transitions work fine.

[Bug 557433] [NEW] Corrupted screen

2010-04-07 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

After a while, my screen begins to be corrupted, showing bright pixels.

These pixels seems to be attached to the graphical object on which
they appear. For example, the bright pixels on the windows title bar
move when I move the window.

They are mostly randomly placed, and their place change each time a
redraw of the graphical object occur. For example, the bright pixels on
background of the time applet change every second.

[Bug 550226] Re: gvfs-ftpd uses 100% of the CPU

2010-03-29 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
do you get the bug only when using the keyring?

It seems so. I've just created a new shortcut to another server, and it
worked fine. I've unmounted the remote folder, then selected the
shortcut - 100% CPU usage.

[Bug 536918] Re: [i945] When I have my laptop on battery power and I close and reopen lid X goes into low-res mode

2010-03-27 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
I think I have the same issue. Suspend/resume using the panel menu works fine,
but suspend fails if I close the lid.
I get mainly a black screen when I reopen the lid, and sometime I get the low
resolution dialog.

There's no broken screen state in this issue. The screen goes mostly
black, except for the panel and the workspace switching OSD, only
during the workspace transition. After the transisition, everything
works fine.

[Bug 542533] [NEW] Black screen on workspace transitions

2010-03-20 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud

I have desktop effects enabled, using Desktop wall for workspace
transitions.

When I select another workspace, the desktop goes black during the
transition, only showing the workspace overview OSD.

It also goes black during the transition if the Cube effect is
selected.

[Bug 444139] Re: (Needs KMS) Background and full screen apps don't show up when Normal Visual Effects on (Radeon 7500)

2009-11-08 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
With this board:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc RV280
[Radeon 9200] [1002:5961] (rev 01)

The right setup for me is:

modeset disabled

and the following xorg.conf file:

---
Section Device
Driver ati
Identifier Radeon 9200
Option BusType PCI
Option AGPSize 64
EndSection

Section Monitor
IdentifierConfigured Monitor
EndSection

Section Screen
IdentifierDefault Screen
MonitorConfigured Monitor
Device Radeon 9200
EndSection
---

modeset must be disabled in order to really have BusType and AGPSize
parameters taken into account.

Also, EXA should not be activated if I want good performance when
scrolling pages in firefox or chromium.

(really, in 2009, a failure on accented directory names ? :) )

I have the same issue, on a DELL D610 laptop.

What would be the correct way to work around this issue. grub.cfg says
it should not be edited by hand, I have to modify the scripts in
/etc/grub. But which one, and how ?

[Bug 455238] [NEW] Tangerine blocks session log out

Public bug reported:

[Bug 426185] Re: gnome-panel fails to fully load

2009-09-30 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
He's not the only one. I alos have this issue. Please see the attached
screenshot. That's what I got on first login.

If I log out and log in, all the applets are correctly loaded.

All I can say is, on my machine, the log in sequence is quite long,
especially after a reboot. So may be some too short timeouts are
involved in this bug. Timeouts that are not reached in the second warm
log in sequence.
