From someone who is 1% knowledgeable on this stuff... since the problem is that the cursor is returned, after clicking outside on the line being returned to, to a place outside the last (hidden) tag...which I have always seen to be / font...could you not simply detect if that tag existed and place the cursor just before it? When I'm typing and correct something, the font size stays the same at the correction, but when I go to the end of the line to continue my typing, the font size is smaller, not larger. That's because there is a hidden / font tag at the end of the line (but before the spot where you are typing). When you move away from the line to do the correction, then click back to the right of the line in white space, the cursor has now been placed OUTSIDE the end font tag, so you have thus lost what font had previously been specified. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/584632 Title: composer changes font mid email To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/thunderbird/+bug/584632/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Folks, the reason most or all of these manifestations(created by numerous different steps--which make them SOUND LIKE different bugs) is this... when you first type This is a test or what ever at the top of the entry area, what is really there is This is a test {/font} with [] instead of {} of course. Now, if at that point, you move the cursor ANYWHERE, for any reason, and then click it back at the end of the line, or if you insert text, you are now typing to the right (after) the {/font} tag, and being outside the end-font tag, will now be using the default font.

(In reply to paul from comment #51) (In reply to Neville Hillyer from comment #47) (In reply to paul from comment #43) Send it to yourself and post the received HTML source here so that we can see what happened. I'm not smart enough to be able to recreate the problem, but here's a bit of HTML source from a message where this did go wrong: br meta content=text/html; charset=UTF-8 http-equiv=Content-Type font face=TahomaSome text here./font Followed by more text here.br br Paulbr Everything after /font is smaller than that which is before it. Let me know if you need more of the HTML source stuff and I'll work at removing 'particulars' (i.e., addresses, etc.) That is exactly what I described in my post previously. I looks strongly as if you moved the cursor after typing 'Some text here' (click back to correct a spelling, insert some text, or something like that). No, no one is saying it is not a bug. I was just showing what was happening that was causing (at least this particular manifestation) to happen. You are at risk of invoking the bug if you do anything other than straight, continuous typing. Hitting Enter does not invoke the bug. A trick to help solve it is to hit Enter several times as the FIRST thing you type. This moves the hidden [ /font ] tag down the page a bit. So, if you move the cursor, then move it back at the end of your actual typing, it is still above the tag. And yes, do VOTE for this.

Of course it should work in the first place. I don't understand all these comments saying that. That is what the whole thread is about! People post some method to make life easier, and immediately the response is but it should work without that. Duh, of course. That doesn't make the suggestions useless, such as the Enters before typing, or highlight and set the font after typing, both of which are tools for living with the bug UNTIL IT IS FIXED (if ever).

[Bug 581351] [NEW] passphrase needs to be entered 3 times with luks encrypted /home
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cryptsetup Yesterday I upgraded from ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 and I experience the following problem when booting. (everything was fine in 9.04) What I expected to happen: I expected to the boot luks passphrase entering procedure to be the same as in 9.04. Boot with usplash disabled, prompt for passphrase appears, I enter the passphrase, boot procedure continues. What happened instead: I have / on a lvm volume (not encrypted) and /home on a lvm volume (luks encrypted). (probably not important, but mentioning it anyway: I have /tmp as a symlink to /home/tmp, so /tmp may not be usable until /home is mounted) Without usplash enabled it is almost impossible to enter the passphrase. It looks like multiple processes during the boot process start fighting for the input/output. I could not even use the recovery shell, it stopped working/accepting input within 10-20s. (ctrl-alt-del works, and reboots the machine) After I read on launchpad that entering the passphrase will only work with usplash enabled I was able to enter the passphrase, but I have to enter it 3 times before it is accepted and boot continues. The problem is worse when the machine is cold-booted, because swap uses /dev/random as a key, I assume it takes some time to acquire enough entropy for the key but this causes usplash to enter text mode, and entering the passphrase becomes impossible. In this scenario the recovery shell is functional and allows me to manually unlock the luks partition. crypttab: storage01-swap_crypt /dev/mapper/storage01-swap /dev/random cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256,size=192,swap storage01-home_crypt /dev/mapper/storage01-home none luks,cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256 fstab: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'vol_id --uuid' to print the universally unique identifier for a # device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices # that works even if disks are added and removed. Today I deemed it safe to upgrade my ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10. After 5+ months I expected a smooth upgrade. I had splash disabled. I have /home on a lvm luks volume. Multiple cryptsetup processes seem to be started, directing output/input to something else than tty1. With rebooting, trying again, different timings, blind escape and returns and the passphrase itself it is possible to get past the prompt for the passphrase (which is invisible initially). After reading on launchpad I configured splash. I now have to type my passphrase (which is 32+ chars) 3 times, then it unlocks the /home and boots fine. This behaviour matches other comments on this bug, if I should open a new bug, please let me know. -- cryptsetup init scripts are redundant and can break the boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/473615 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 374861] [NEW] kernel updates 2.6.28.11.15(amd64) are blocked
Public bug reported: Release : ubuntu 9.04 The software update manager (launched, under KDE4, by '/usr/bin/kcmshell4 kpk_update') lists 4 kernel update packages as blocked updates. The exact list of blocked packages is : linux-headers-generic-2.6.28.11.15 linux-restricted-modules-generic-2.6.28.11.15 linux-generic-2.6.28.11.15 linux-image-generic-2.6.28.11.15 A kernel update already happened (as I have more than 1 link at boot), without obvious problems. Other package updates are OK, too. I would expect those packages to be installable if they are an upgrade to my current kernel (2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP). Oddly I can't find much more information on my current kernel : --- $ apt-cache policy kernel-package kernel-package: Installed: (none) Candidate: 11.015 Version table: 11.015 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages -- My repositories are (/etc/apt/sources.list, stripped from commented lines): deb http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty main restricted deb-src http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty main restricted deb http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-updates main restricted deb-src http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-updates main restricted deb http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty universe deb-src http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty universe deb http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-updates universe deb-src http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-updates universe deb http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty multiverse deb-src http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty multiverse deb http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-updates multiverse deb-src http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-updates multiverse deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu jaunty partner deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jaunty-security main restricted deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jaunty-security main restricted deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jaunty-security universe deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jaunty-security universe deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jaunty-security multiverse deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jaunty-security multiverse deb http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-proposed restricted main multiverse universe Thanks if you can help, and plesae ask me if you think of any other information I might give. -- Frederic Meynadier ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- kernel updates 2.6.28.11.15(amd64) are blocked https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374861 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
