I had this problem repeatedly even after this ticked was closed. So I
switched to Debian wheezy and never had the problem again.

Thank you for looking into this.

BTW, I didn't contact you directly. I reported this through Ubuntu's bug
tracker. I expected them to escalate to Debian before this reached you.

[Bug 1409280] Re: Graphviz's sfdp is seriuosly crippled without a triangulation library

2015-01-17 Thread Fede Heinz
I'm using the grapviz_2.38.0-5ubuntu0 sources package from Utopic. The
one linked to from http://packages.ubuntu.com/utopic/graphviz. Inside
graphviz_2.38.0-5ubuntu0.1.debian.tar.xz you will find a debian/rules
file that configures the package --without-gts.

In
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/g/graphviz/graphviz_2.38.0-5ubuntu0.1/changelog,
in the release notes for graphviz (2.20.2-1) you will find a note that
says “Add “--without-gts” to configure arguments to make sure not to
link against GTS, at least for now.” Unfortunately, no justification why
that was a good idea at the time.

Which git are you looking at?

[Bug 1409280] [NEW] Graphviz's sfdp is seriuosly crippled without a triangulation library

2015-01-10 Thread Fede Heinz
Public bug reported:

The Graphviz package is built --without-gts. This is bad news for sfdp,
which complains “Error: remove_overlap: Graphviz not built with
triangulation library” and fails to produce the beautiful output it
creates when compiled --with-gts.

I saw no real justification for this setting, other than a note from
2008 saying that the flag was added to prevent GTS from being linked in
“for now”.

It's been nearly eight years... maybe time to reconsider?

Re: [Bug 1003096] Re: kernel panic while using nfs4/kerberos/autofs5

2014-01-10 Thread Fede
Dear Christopher,

unfortunately the answer is yes. The problem still exists. However, since
we were not able to fix it we moved from nfs4 to samba. Now that machine is
used productively. At the moment we do not have a suitable machine
available to perform the tests you ask for. Maybe in the future things will
change.

Thanks for looking into this bug.
Best Regards,
Fede

[Bug 1017874] Re: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#6 stuck for 23s! [gvfsd-trash:2178]

2013-02-11 Thread Fede
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 922906 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/922906

I believe this to be a different bug from 922906. I've upgraded to
kernel 3.2.0.36 and then to 3.2.0.37 and still had 2 ooops. There is
however a difference: with the new kernels there is no single line in
the syslog about the crash.

Unfortunately I'm not able to reproduce the bug. It seems to happen
randomly. When it last happened I was not even using the computer, it
was idle. Without a way to reproduce the bug and given that it does not
happen too frequently, it will be difficult to provide a "call trace".

[Bug 1029819] Re: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 23s!

2012-08-13 Thread Fede
Dear Christopher, fortunately the problem "only" occurred twice from the
beginning of July. Could you please tell me exactly what piece of
information is missing from what I uploaded? You can clearly see the
problem in the syslog file. It starts with a line saying "BUG: soft
lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 23s! [gnome-settings-:2158]".

Thanks!

[Bug 1029819] [NEW] BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 23s!

2012-07-27 Thread Fede
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 with the latest updates up to the 26th of July 2012. The
kernel version is linux-image-3.2.0-27-generic.
The system suddenly locked with essentially no load. Had to power off the
system the hard way. After rebooting I analysed the syslog and found a "BUG:
soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 23s! [gnome-settings-:2158]" message.

2012-06-26 Thread Fede
Up to now this only happened once with my current system configuration.
However, I'm wondering if this has the same root cause as the other bug
I hit previously:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1003096

In any case, I've run a memory test and it does not report any error.

[Bug 1003096] Re: kernel panic while using nfs4/kerberos/autofs5

2012-05-25 Thread Fede
Dear Joseph, I would greatly appreciate if the bug could be reported
upsteam by the ubuntu developers. Temporarity (hopefully) we switched to
using samba. I will be away from our IT systems for the next couple of
weeks and will therefore not be able to do any further debugging.

Before upgrading to ubuntu 12.04 we did use 10.04. I did use
NFS4/kerberos/autofs with it, but not as intensively as we are doing
now. In any case with that wersion we never had kernel panic problems.

[Bug 1003096] [NEW] kernel panic while using nfs4/kerberos/autofs5

2012-05-22 Thread Fede
Public bug reported:

Fresh install of 12.04 desktop. Updated 22 May with latest updates. The
system mounts kerberized NFS4 shares with autofs5 from an ubuntu 10.04
server. After a variable amount of time (minutes to a few hours) the
system crashes with no shutdown possibility (neither local nor remote).
Only option is a hard power-off.

The system crashed 4 times in a single afternoon. Before configuring the
NFS4 shares I did use the system for 2 days with no single crash. At the
moment I disabled the mounts and for the moment the system is running
OK.

[Bug 938581] Re: rpc.svcgssd ERROR: prepare_krb5_rfc_cfx_buffer: not implemented

2012-05-21 Thread Fede
I've solved my problem by:

1) generating des-cbc-crc only keys in /etc/krb5.keytab on server and client
with
 sudo kadmin -p XXX/admin -q "ktadd -e des-cbc-crc:normal
nfs/servername.fqn"

2) allowing weak enc. (server and client) and changing the algorithm
order in /etc/krb5.conf (server):

allow_weak_crypto = true
default_etypes = arcfour-hmac-md5 des3-cbc-sha1
default_etypes_des = des-cbc-md5,des-cbc-crc
default_tgs_enctypes = des-cbc-md5,des-cbc-crc
default_tkt_enctypes = des-cbc-md5,des-cbc-crc
permitted_enctypes =
des-cbc-md5,des-cbc-crc,des3-cbc-sha1,arcfour-hmac-md5,des-cbc-md4,aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96,aes128-cts-hmac-sha1-96

Thanks you very much for the help! I've added "sleep 1" at the end of the
slapd init script and now everything starts fine.

Could this be related to the fact that when the KDC complains and stops
the server has not yet received its (static) IP address from the DHCP

My system runs 10.04

[Bug 91890] Re: Custom DNS settings lost on boot

2008-09-30 Thread Fede
I found another way to "solve" this bug.
I 've edited /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/base, and added a line with
"nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx", where "x" needs to be replaced by
your ips numbers.
Then you can run resovconf -u, this will write the content of base into
resolv.conf, you can check if it's ok. Restart the networking services
(/etc/init.d/networking restart), or reboot the machine.
It has worked for me.

[Bug 79259] Re: several bugs with filename

2008-03-16 Thread Fede
Thanks for your time Richard ;)

1) About the clean up, I've removed everything that wasn't necessary for the
packaging, and I think that a cleaned rules file is the best way to be sure
that in the future anyone can work on the package without problems.
2) Asdasd, sorry about that...actually I haven't understand yet very well the
maintainer policy :(
3) I use dpatch because it looks to me the easiest and better way...
4) I've named the patches in that way, to be informative about what the patches
do also with the filename...

Thanks again for your tips and suggestions!! :)

thanks for the fix!!

@michael
is it possible to modify the patch in order to skip ALL the files by default
without typing S or A and at the and of the conversion print out all the
skipped files?? with many files to be converted I think it would be a better
solution...

thanks again..

[Bug 157046] Sis650 Ubuntu Gutsy

2007-10-26 Thread fede
I have an Asus M2 with sis650 graphic card. I updated feisty to gutsy
gibbon and now when i boot the computer, after the beginning of session,
the cpu fan is on, and it never stops. When the session starts the
computer is very slow. The system monitor points out that cpu keeps
eating 100% even if i do nothing, but the cpu doesn't heat up. I tried
to install xubuntu gutsy and i had the same problem. Thanks to all
developers
