Also met this issue in both ubuntu-14.04.1-server-amd64.iso and
ubuntu-14.04-server-amd64.iso with USB stick to install. With the
workaround from Chris Ball could bypass the issue, but the installor
just hanged in another point as attached photo.
Finally got it work with
Upgrading to 12.04 fixed the issue in my laptop (currently, I just
upgraded today.)

I met the same issue today when using Calc with ibus-chewing.
I'm using ver. 3.5.1 of libreoffice fetched from

before trying the workaround.

I've tried the workaround with no luck.
The file I used is LibO_3.5.2_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz from
http://zh-tw.libreoffice.org/download/ . And tested in Ubuntu 11.10.
Another thing I found that KSpread won't have the same problem when
dealing with the same document.

Another note that with LibO_3.5.2, the frequency of the problem changed
from 'often' to 'sometimes'. But I can't exactly guess when it will
happen ( just be closed suddenly without saving the progress... )

I haven't gotten response from that site. But if it's disabled by
default, how to open it? The option '-ssl2' had been removed from the
program in the latest version.
The following results were fetched from 0.9.8g-4ubuntu3.13 @ Ubuntu
8.04.4 LTS:
:~$ openssl s_client -ssl3 -host
I got a response from them. They said their website sure support SSLv3.
I have no idea how to identify the version SSL.
