[Bug 1813017] [NEW] directory mismatch in /etc

2019-01-23 Thread Florian Achleitner
Public bug reported:

The package installs native-messaging-hosts/com.dannyvankooten.browserpass.json
in /etc/chromium, but it should use /etc/chromium-browser.
As a consequence, the browser extension can not find the native helper program.
Moving the native-messaging-hosts/com.dannyvankooten.browserpass.json to
/etc/chromium-browser after installation solves the problem.

[Bug 583676] Re: Resume with two displays gives scrambled pixels on only one display

2014-01-08 Thread Florian Achleitner
Hi,
I'm currently not at the affected machine, I'll try the live image later.
But for now, I can confirm that it still occurs with the current saucy version.
It's probably quite specific to the graphic card.

[Bug 1086472] [NEW] libavcodec-dev depends on a version of libavcodec-extra-53 that doesn't exist

2012-12-04 Thread Florian Achleitner
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1038781 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1038781

Public bug reported:

There is a version number inconsistency in the packages built from this source:
Avialable versions:
libavcodec-dev 6:0.8.4-0ubuntu0.12.10.1
libavcodec53 6:0.8.4-0ubuntu0.12.10.1
libavcodec-extra-53 6:0.8.4ubuntu0.12.10.1

Note the different version scheme for libavcodec-extra-53.

libavcodec-dev depends on libavcodec53 (= 6:0.8.4-99) | libavcodec-
extra-53 (= 6:0.8.4.99), libavcodec53 (= 6:0.8.4-0ubuntu0.12.10.1) |
libavcodec-extra-53 (= 6:0.8.4). (and others)

Therefore, the version of libavcodec-extra-53 doesn't satisfy this dependency.
The same situation occurs for the other *extra* packages.

The effect is, that I can not have the *extra* packages installed together with
the *dev packages.
I think this is only a version number glitch.

[Bug 896582] Re: 1814:3090 RT3090 Network speed are very low

2012-10-07 Thread Florian Achleitner
Update: The slow-speed problem still occurs. After some time of usage,
network speed is limited to about 70kB/s, like it was before. This
occurs on another access point, not the one that worked well (see
comment #74). I don't have a clue yet, what criteria influence this
behavior.

Remark: the rt3090-dkms driver produces a hard-freeze when connecting to
a network. It does no longer work on kernel 3.5.

The low speed problem seems to be gone.
I tried it over a longer time and across suspend an resume cycles in a 802.11g

Using scp, I copied a larger file reaching about 2.6MB/s contiuously, several

This is still the same in maverick.
A workaround is to use xrandr, mirror the affected display, which mirrors the

and fixes the output.

xranrd --output DVI-0 --reflect normal

[Bug 583676] [NEW] Resume with two displays gives scrambled pixels on only one display

2010-05-21 Thread Florian Achleitner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

I use two monitor connected via DVI. After suspend to ram and resume,
the picture on only one display gets scrambled and unusable.

Some Facts:
- Everthing runs as expected, but the left display show a picture looking like
every fourth pixel is displayed, and the ones in between have the values of
their neighbor. The picture is updated and flickerfree. I can attach a foto if
it helps..

- Taking a screenshot gives a normal picture.

- Disabling KMS by passing radeon.modeset=0 to the kernel solves the
problem. I attach 2 dmesg outputs of the resume sequence. Note that with
modeset=0 [drm] Resetting GPU is output, while with KMS it is not.

- It occurs only if using the 2 monitors in big desktop mode.

- logging out an back in solves it

- fglrx (i used it until lucid) had the same issue. It was silently
fixed around version 10.2.

- Hibernation doesn't work too. It ends up in gdm after resuming. Maybe
X crashes, but thats another story.

[Bug 539912] Re: current battery charge not easily accessible

2010-05-18 Thread Florian Achleitner
I solved the issue by building a costumized version of the source package.
In the relevant code parts, there are switches like #ifdef HAVE_APP_INDICATOR.
The tooltip is disabled if this macro is set and the percentage values are not
shown. This was introduced by a patch that adds support for application
indicators (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-media/+bug/497870).
AFAIK this should be a replacement for the notification area applet. But it
seems we don't have it in lucid. gpm uses an ordinary tray icon.

I'm not sure how to submit my patch cleanly.
So I'll try it like this.
Apply it to the source package.

The first disalbes application indicators in debian/rules.
The second compacts the display of time from %i hours %i minutes to just hh:mm.

[Bug 579858] [NEW] umount segfault on shutdown when unmounting autofs mountpoint

2010-05-13 Thread Florian Achleitner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: autofs5

After I started using autofs5 in lucid I got filesystem checks on every boot up
on my seperated /boot and /home partitions. They were not cleanly unmounted.
I tried to research why:
On shutdown /etc/init.d/umountfs calls umount to unmount filesystems it reads
from /proc/mounts. Several Vars are created by the script and unmounted then. I
modified the script to get the vars content.

PROTECTED_MOUNTS rootfs / rootfs rw 0 0 none /sys sysfs
rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime 0 0 none /proc proc
rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime 0 0 none /dev devtmpfs
rw,relatime,size=1988516k,nr_inodes=497129,mode=755 0 0 none /dev/pts devpts
rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000 0 0
/dev/mapper/lvm_vg-root / ext4
rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro,barrier=1,data=ordered 0 0
WEAK_MTPTS /sys/kernel/security /sys/kernel/debug /sys/fs/fuse/connections
REG_MTPTS /home/flo/.gvfs /mnt/autofs /boot /home
TMPFS_MTPTS /tmp

The problematic line is REG_MTPTS. The call to umount finally looks like this:
fstab-decode umount -f -v -r -d $REG_MTPTS
which expands to (in my case)
fstab-decode umount -f -v -r -d /home/flo/.gvfs /mnt/autofs /boot /home

When hiding plymouth screen at shutdown, I got a glimpse on a Segfault
message, after the umounting outputs.

The segfault occurs when trying to unmount /mnt/autofs, so /boot and
/home never get unmounted and are unclean on next boot. So thats the
reason for the symptom.

I further tried to unmount /mnt/autofs with gdb to trace the problem.
The segfault happens in strlen and is 100% reproducable. See the output
file attached.

When i stop the autofs daemon before trying to unmount /mnt/autofs,
everything is fine, since the daemon removes the mountpoint anyways when
exiting.

So there may be two problems/solutions:
First: Why does umount segfault?
And: Is autofs not correctly stoped by upstart, and isn't that the real
problem/solution? If autofs daemon would be stopped before executing umountfs,
it wouldn't try to unmount the autofs mountpoint.

[Bug 579858] Re: umount segfault on shutdown when unmounting autofs mountpoint

2010-05-13 Thread Florian Achleitner
This patch to umountfs initscript (which doesn't belong to autofs5 package, but
initscripts!) solves the problem effectively.
It adds autofs to the file system types, that the script doesn't try to unmount.
If we call it a solution or a workaround, I don't know..

[Bug 539912] Re: current battery charge not easily accessable

I also miss the tooltip info. I think it disappeared accidentially. I tried to
find the reason in the source, but was not successful. It looks like everything
is there (compared to karmic version, where it worked). Maybe some signal is
not emitted..
I think someone with good knowledge on the code base could fix that with a
little debugging.

[Bug 366034] [NEW] fglrx doesn't turn off displays with dpms

2009-04-24 Thread Florian Achleitner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx

Powersaving with displays doesn't work since upgrading to jaunty (64bit)
with fglrx. It works with the same installation on nvidia hardware. So i
guess it's an fglrx issue.

I tested with xset dmps force off. The display went black, but didn't
turn off (backlight stays on, monitor doesn't powersave).

Ubuntu 9.04
xorg-driver-fglrx:
  Installed: 2:8.600-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 2:8.600-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 2:8.600-0ubuntu2 0

** Affects: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
