[Bug 1927808] Re: rtw88_8821ce causes freeze

2022-05-27 Thread Pippo Franco
I tested it and it won't give me freezes. But it seems to stop being
able to connect to my network after 24 hours. Even if I try to forget
and remake connection and reset router it will still can't connect.
(This happened even with Ubuntu 20.04, now I am on 22.04)

[Bug 1884522] Re: dhcp4-overrides - use-dns: false - ignored

2020-06-26 Thread Franco
TEMPORARY WORKAROUND
use:

network:
  version: 2
  renderer: networkd

and work as intended

** Description changed:

  I'm using

    dhcp4: yes
    dhcp4-overrides:
  use-dns: false
    dhcp6: no
    nameservers:
  addresses: addresses: [1.1.1.1,8.8.8.8,1.0.0.1,8.8.4.4]

but after applying i get this dns

  200.42.xxx.xxx 200.49.xxx.xxx 1.1.1.1 8.8.8.8

the first 2 are provided by the router DNS. Why?

Also notice that Ubuntu ignores the use-dns: false graphically and check the
option as automatic. If I turn OFF that, the DNS work just as intended.

Thank you for your support.
I had already by-passed the problem installing:
1. Linux Lite 3.8
2. Ubuntu 10.04 LTS in dual boot, without any change in the boot mode.

[Bug 1768497] Re: Upgrade from 17.10 to 18.04 lost native 3D hardware acceleration for intel UHD 620, laptop is XPS 9370

2018-05-03 Thread Santiago Franco
Ok, found the culprit, for some reason LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE was set to
1, apparently, this tells Ubuntu to use the LLVM renderer. The article
below says this is sometimes set when the GUI does not work correctly or
crashes. I have been lately been switching between Wayland and Xorg,
and had a couple of crashes in Wayland, so maybe it happened on one of
those occasions. This is pure speculation on my part.

I found the solution at https://askubuntu.com/questions/908381/desktop-
stuck-on-software-rendering-libgl-always-software-
set?utm_medium=organic_source=google_rich_qa_campaign=google_rich_qa

Basically, type systemctl --user unset-environment LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE
and reboot, then glxinfo and system settings report the correct UHD
renderer is being used ;-)

Not sure if I should close the bug or not, this is a fix but no idea why
LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE was set to 1. I am happy to collaborate if
anybody wants to investigate it, otherwise, I am also happy if somebody
wants to close it.

I did an upgrade via terminal yesterday, everything seemed to work fine

[Bug 1768497] [NEW] Upgrade from 17.10 to 18.04 lost native 3D hardware acceleration for intel UHD 620, laptop is XPS 9370

2018-05-02 Thread Santiago Franco
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I did an upgrade via terminal yesterday, everything seemed to work fine
but then I noticed very heavy CPU usage by gnome-shell. The problem is
that the UHD card is not fully recognized, so it uses instead llvmpipe,
so no native 3D acceleration :-( This was working great in 17.10

Some outputs which might be useful:
__
sudo lspci -nnk | grep -i vga

-A3 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation UHD
Graphics 620 [8086:5917] (rev 07) Subsystem: Dell UHD Graphics 620
[1028:07e6] Kernel driver in use: i915 Kernel modules: i915

glxinfo | grep llv

Device: llvmpipe (LLVM 6.0, 256 bits) (0x) OpenGL renderer string:
llvmpipe (LLVM 6.0, 256 bits)

Pls let me know if providing more info would help. I am not sure if the
driver is missing or if XORG is broken, please help. I am using XORG at
the moment, Wayland freezes befpre desktop environment shows up (it was
working in 17.10).

Thanks!

[Bug 1606584] Re: ecryptfs_write_end: Error encrypting page (upper index [0x000000000000011e])

2017-04-19 Thread Anthony Di Franco
As of the update to 17.04, this bug affects me too, and it causes the
system to fail. Not sure what's going on but Chromium crashes, other
processes can't exit unless killed, and on shutdown I see messages of
the form "ecryptfs_encrypt_page: Error attempting to write lower page"
in the console. Happens after an hour or a few hours of uptime.

Nish : This machine runs exclusively Ubuntu 16,04 LTS , I have another one
with ubuntu ( a former version of 13,04, which doesn't update any more )
and Windows 7 Home premium . Please remember I am *not* a bit carver . If
you want me to do some rather simple actions you may rely on it .
Best wishes

2017-03-27 Thread Franco Runza
With reference to your demand :
Are you able to provide the output (unellipsized) from either of those
commands?

Thanks,
Nish

I do not think to be able to do so , is there any simple way to get these
information ?
When I bought this computer I was told ubuntu was the best ( and safest )
way to be safe and easily updated , including new versions of ubuntu -
which doesn't seem to be the case by now.

Thank you for your patience.

It still keeps : 1- trying to update
2- saying there was an error
3- When I try to update ( later ) it says it is updated
OR
4- Willing to report error(s) and the result is:
it won't be reported because this error was already
reported
I just finished trying to update and result was Nr.3
Have a great Year's end!

[Bug 1437485] Re: No video on youtube when on GSM/3g

2016-02-26 Thread Franco
Hi
Divice: Bq Aquaris E5 HD,. Ubuntu 15.04 (OTA -9.1)
I have the same problem with the youtube site on the browser. On 3G the screen
go black and I just hear the audio stream.

Attention now comes the tricky part.

If the screen goes black I reload the page and videostream come again.
Now you have to push off and on the HQ button (left bottom corner)

After this procedure the video and audio works alright.

[Bug 1520361] [NEW] D-link DWL-G132

2015-11-26 Thread franco
Public bug reported:

Come posso comportarmi?

[Bug 1431332] Re: sddm not starting after upgrade

2015-07-13 Thread Franco
Hi everyone! I think I have this bug or similar.
I have Kubuntu 15.04, and last night I installed a new driver for the NVIDIA
GEFORCE of my laptop, because it said (the manager) it was recommended. While
the driver was downloaded and installed a new system update appeared, but I
decided not to update.
After a while, my laptop went black, only the arrow was visible, I had to
reboot and then appeared a message saying sddm-greeter had failed and another
saying plasma had failed. After that only the arrow and crocky (the apps
launcher) were visible, the rest was black, I could open firefox, but had no wi
fi. After a second reboot, all that happens is similar to what other people say
here. I tryed sudo systemctl enable sddm / sudo reboot and other things I
found but nothing works. Please if someone knows a way to fix this tell me, I
don't want to reinstall the OS... And sorry if my english is confusing, is not
my native language.
