[Bug 554484] Re: delay on login Kubuntu
I guess ecryptfs has definitely it's share in this issue. I observe the following behaviour. On login in the console there is a delay aswell if the user has an encrypted home. With unencrypted home login is faster. This makes somehow sense as the users home need to get decrypted. I don't know enough about the login process to actually figure more details. Still in my opinion there shouldn't not be delay in KDM after hiting enter. The user should get immediate feedback that his input has been received even though the process might take longer on encrypted home directory. P.S. [Bug 660333] Re: akonadi start 4 services at 100% on kde login
I can confirm this bug. Two weeks my Akonadi which I currently don't use started to go haywire. On KDE Login there are 4 or 5 Akonadi process running. They all fill up the memory very quickly rendering the computer almost unresponsive. If I wait long enough the processes disapear and the computer is usable again. My workaround current work around is to have the Systemmonitor autostart. Right after login the computer is still responsive which gives me the change to kill all Akonadi processes before they clog my RAM. Interesting is that by killing one process the other immediatly start filling up the memory again. During this time CPU goes up to a 100%. Once memory the memory is full, CPU drops down again to only a few percent. This is a very annoying bug. [Bug 694293] [NEW] Printing PDF containing png graphic results in bad text quality (pixelized)
Public bug reported: When printing a PDF containing a graphic in png format the print quality of that text is badly reduced. I realized this issue when I got a new color printer (Brother DCP-9045CDN). Text is printed badly pixelized looking like 150dpi (without hinting). Printing the same text containing a jpg (or without) graphic instead of a png does not show this problem and text is printed just fine. Printing the original document (incl png) directly from OpenOffice or printing the PDF with png from Windows with Acrobat Reader or OSX with preview works fine as well Not a printer or driver issue After some more investigation I realized that the problem also appears on other printers (tested with Brother HL-5250 and HP LaserJet 1210). Much less pronounced thought and therefore I haven't realized it before. Directly comparing the print out quality of PDF with png vs. one with jpg shows a slightly reduced text quality. Screen rendering is fine in both cases, even when zooming in. Is it not the application, its deeper in the stack I used Okular to print the PDF but I also tested XPDF which shows the same behaviour. Using Acrobat Reader it prints fine but with a lower over all quality (looks like the document is turned into a picture before being sent to the printer). Without being a specialist I assume that the problem is the PDF processing (poppler?) before its sent to the printer (Acrobat seems to use something different there). I can provide example documents if required as well as print out examples. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: pdf png printing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/694293 Title: Printing PDF containing png graphic results in bad text quality (pixelized) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 656631] Re: resume from suspend does not initialize the display on 2.6.35 kernel
I have a Lenovo S10 with Kubuntu 10.10 and I'm having this suspend issue. Computer goes to sleep as you would expect, but doesn't wake up from it. Screen stays black (the other light go on as if everything went well). No reaction to key strokes any more. The GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=acpi_sleep=nonvs didn't fix it. Is there another workaround or fix? BTW: This issue started after some Kernel update while still on Kubuntu 10.04. [Bug 293254] [NEW] Screen resolution not detected correctly (1280 x 800)
Public bug reported: Hi, Today I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on a brand new Lenovo ThinkPad X200. The LiveCD and installer did not recognize the screen resolution correctly 1024 x 768 instead of 1280 x 800. It was possible to adjust the screen resolution after installing in Settings - Screen Resolution. But still there it was first not possible to select the correct resolution. I had to uncheck clone output (not sure how it is called in the english version) This allowed for selection of the correct screen resolution (1280 x 800) but left the menubars at a strange place (still appearing to be on a 1024 x 768 resolution) The screen resolution tool showed to more monitors at different resolutions. Once I disabled both of them manually, the issue with the toolbars was resolved. Remaining Problem: The Desktop is completely usable after this changes, but the login screen still is on the wrong resolution. I was not successful by trying to change xorg.conf (I'm not sure if it would help at all). Also the guest login has still the wrong resolution.
