[Bug 485480] Re: cups converts multiple times between pdf and ps
Hi G, thanks for your reply. I have tried to reproduce case 3 (as I believe this is the one most interdependent from other applications/libs as Poppler or KDE-/Qt) using an EPSON BX620FWD. The problem described above did not occour. My printer at that time was a Brother DCP-120C, but I don't have this device any more. So either the problem is solved or it is specific to Brother printers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/485480 Title: cups converts multiple times between pdf and ps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/485480/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 751265] Re: pulseaudio distorts VLC audio
Thanks for answer #23, it solved my problem. The problem occured only by VLC itself and the KDE Phonon VLC module. So I suspect that VLC is doing something a little bit different than most other audio backends. Maybe the chunk size VLC uses or the timing of VLC. Also I followed https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio#Choppy.2C_overdriven_sound (set samplerate to 48000 Hz) and https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio#Setting_the_default_fragment_number_and_buffer_size_in_Pulseaudio (Set correct buffer and fragment size for 48000 Hz). [Bug 1018069] Re: Linux Libertine Libreoffice 3.5 distorted printing
Confirmed although my situation is a little different: I had some documents created b LibreOffice on Windows. On Windows LibreOffice bundles Linux Libertine Graphite and calls the fonts Linux Libertine G and Linux Biolinum G. Opening these documents in LibreOffice on Ubuntu breaks the whole design (not only small differences, what would be normal): LibreOffice (or fontconfig?) doesn't seem to be able to map Linux Libertine G and Linux Biolinum G to Linux Libertine and Linux Biolinum. So it applies some default fonts (but not Linux Libertine and Linux Biolinum although they are my LibreOffice default fonts). The font replacement in LibreOffice also does not help as it can only replace known fonts. Manually installing the Graphite font package solved this problem This is why I did not open a new bug, as there seems to be a common solution and therefore probably also a common cause. ** Also affects: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1018069 Title: Linux LibertineLibreoffice 3.5 distorted printing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fonts-linuxlibertine/+bug/1018069/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 694789] [NEW] Missing configuration: session_vars.php and horde web client, invalid template
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kolabd After installing kolabd Kolab is not usable yet. kolab_bootstrap -b has to be executed manually which *should* do a base configuration. But on Ubuntu Natty this does not work: * AppArmor configuration has to be edited although this is not mentioned = Bug #357060 * saslauthd needs manual intervention = Bug #694518 * /etc/kolab/templates/slapd.conf.template is invald and has to be edited before running kolab_bootstrap: Several replica*-lines have to be commented out to let the script not fail * /etc/kolab/session_vars.php is not configured (can be manually done by filling the placeholders with the values from /etc/kolab/kolab.conf) * Horde is not configured for Kolab although it gets installed as a (indirect) requirement and all information on kolab.org indicates that Horde is a part of Kolab since version 2.2 and that it gets configured by the kolab_bootstrap script. Although I mentioned other bugs above the focus on this bug is on the kolab_bootstrap script and its templates! I've just mentioned the to give a summary which problems occur on installing Kolab. Besides, Bug #694539 is related: As a consequence that the configuration is not done automatically after the installation, Apache fails to (re)start. [Bug 694637] [NEW] rekonq doesn't save accepted SSL certificate
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rekonq I've set up a Kolab server for testing and created an own certiface which of course is untrusted by default. If I go to the webbased administration interface (that requests https and not only http) I have *always* to accept the certificate: - First I'm asked if I trust ther certificate - Then I'm asked if this should be saved I have to accept both dialogs on every page. mostly more than only once but up to four times. That means I have to make up to eight (unnecessary) clicks although I said that I want to save the certificate. Firefox only asks once and accepts the certificate automatically in the future. [Bug 654771] Re: Pass images as uncompressed BMP v3 to cuneiform
I'm not sure if I should file a new bug or append it to this one... Now cuneiform is built with libmagick++-support (Bug #654767 fixed for maverick, fix for Lucid is in proposed repository). So cuneiform can perform nearly any image format. But OCR with cuneiform still doesn't work: The OCR tab simply stays clear. Manually starting cuneiform an a scanned image in /tmp/CrazyFolderName/RandomImageName.pnm works and shows a pretty exact result. So it's not a problem of cuneiform or a unusable scanned document. -- Pass images as uncompressed BMP v3 to cuneiform https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/654771 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 654767] [NEW] Package a libmagick++-enabled version of cuneiform
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cuneiform Without libmagick++-support (libmagick++-dev has to be installed at compile time) cuneiform will only perform on bmp files. This wouldn't be such a big problem if it wanted the BMP files in a very special way. A simple convert-command is not enough: $ convert blop.jpg blop.bmp $ cuneiform -l ger -f smarttext /tmp/blop.bmp Cuneiform for Linux 0.7.0 /tmp/blop.bmpis a compressed BMP. Only uncompressed BMP files are supported. Please convert your BMP to uncompressed V3 format and try again. $ convert blop.jpg BMP3:blop.bmp $ cuneiform -l ger -f smarttext /tmp/blop.bmp Cuneiform for Linux 0.7.0 /tmp/blop.bmpis a compressed BMP. Only uncompressed BMP files are supported. Please convert your BMP to uncompressed V3 format and try again. So I guess it would be the best (and easiest) to enable libmagick++ and let cuneiform do the conversion job. [Bug 654771] [NEW] Pass images as uncompressed BMP v3 to cuneiform
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gscan2pdf The cuneiform version in ubuntu has no libmagick++-support (Bug #654767). Therefore it can only process uncompressed BMP v3 images. Trying anything else leads to OCR being cancelled. On the console this is printed: /tmp/lD1hIbHasU/ThgzjU3Pqw.pnm is not a BMP file. *** unhandled exception in callback: *** Error: cannot open /tmp/lD1hIbHasU/DWr2n3tweG.txt *** ignoring at /usr/bin/gscan2pdf line 12513. As a workaround gscan2pdf should convert the images before passing them over to cuneiform. [Bug 654767] Re: Package a libmagick++-enabled version of cuneiform
As I found ou on http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/formats/#bmp the conversion can be done using $ convert blop.jpg ppm:- | convert - BMP3:image.bpm Now cuneiform takes the BMP file. But I guess that's not an usual workaround a normal user who just wants to OCR a few documents will try... [Bug 642518] Re: [MASTER] package fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: Kernel fix for CVE-2010-3081 breaks fglrx
@Lumenary Anybody here from the Ubuntu X-Swat PPA have an update on 8.771? The last check-in for this version is still listed as 0ubuntu0sarvatt~Lucid I also use this package. I had to go back to Linux kernel version 2.6.32-23. I guess that's not the perfect way for all people (mainly because of security reasons) but for me this is fine until a new catalyst driver (hopefully) will solve this problem. -- [MASTER] package fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: Kernel fix for CVE-2010-3081 breaks fglrx https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/642518 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 613655] Re: Broadcom B43 wireless driver fails to activate/install
Let's take a look ath the changelog of b43-fwcutter: b43-fwcutter (1:013~git20100413-1) unstable; urgency=low * remove b43-fwcutters debconf question * don't try to extract the firmware in b43-fwcutter, split out into extra installer packages (which are then properly versioned and can check for needed kernel/chipsets) The downloading and extraction part is now in a new (virtual) package firmware-b43-installer (and firmware-b43legacy-installer, firmware- b43lppy-installer). So there are two solutions: 1) b43-fwcutter should depend on firmware-b43-installer and firmare-b43legacy-installer (firmware-b43lppy-installer is a special case of firmware-b43-installer that supports less device but seems to be more power efficient for the B4312; users who need this can install it later on). b43 should at lest recommend that packages! 2) Jockey should take care of installing the needed package (Pro: can take care which one of the three packages is needed, Contra: users installing b43-fwcutter manually as they were used to probably don't know that they need an extra package) As I'm not sure which solutions is better I added b43-fwcutter as affected, too. ** Changed in: b43-fwcutter (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: jockey (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- Broadcom B43 wireless driver fails to activate/install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/613655 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 624949] [NEW] [fglrx] Freeze on activating KDE Desktop Effects on AMD Catalyst 8.762
Public bug reported: First I've tested manual installation (by letting the Catalyst installer create deb-packages), then I tried the packages from https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates . Both variations had the same problem: After enabling KDE desktop effects (KDE 4.5) the PC freezes. Changing to terminals or something else isn't possible any more, Alt+Print+R/E/I/S/U/B was the only solution. There are no errors in Xorg logs. Re-creating the configration with aticonfig and amdcccle didn't solve this. Besides: Starting glxgears openes a glxgears windows with the gears standing still. The window neither can be closed by pressing CTRL+C on the terminal nor by calling killall -9 glxgears. Pressing the X in the windows title bar closes the window but the terminal doesn'tt return to prompt and ps shows glxgears as still running. Again no errors in Xorg.0.log. The desktop effects (and glxgears) worked using the driver from July. Some system information: - Kubuntu Lucid 10.4.1 x64, all recent updates installed - KDE 4.5 installed - X.org 1.7.6 - Installation and creation of the driver showed no errors ** Affects: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: fglrx xorg -- [fglrx] Freeze on activating KDE Desktop Effects on AMD Catalyst 8.762 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/624949 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 379820] Re: KDE language pack updates should call kbuildsycoca4 --noincrement
Mohamed Amine IL Idrissi : FriedChicken: what do you mean by obvious mistakes? Is there still some mistakes? That means that I can't remember seeing mistakes after recent updates. But that doesn't mean that there aren't any more: It could be that I've just overseen them (as I'm used to reading English) or that I didn't use affected applications before the cache got updated.
