Hi Pedro,
I don't know if you will get this response but, I've figured out the
problem. I switched from the DVI to the VGA port on my video card and
it now works fine. The graphics card is on older ATI 9200 SE. However,
I did load Debian and it works fine with the DVI port.

it's 3 minutes and 30 seconds after that until the Ubuntu splash screen.
