[Bug 1876262] [NEW] dismissed keystrokes after retyping the password in lockscreen

2020-05-01 Thread Gerhard Aigner
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, and gnome-shell 3.36.1-5ubuntu1 :

On the lock screen:
 - enter an incorrect password
 - get message that its incorrect
 - the password field gets the focus and visually signifies that you can type
again
 - the first couple of keystrokes (~700ms?) aren't buffered but dismissed, so
the password is likely to be incorrect

I expected the same behaviour as on Ubuntu <= 19.10, where no keystrokes
get lost.

Is this due to security measures?

(Other than that i really like 20.04, great work!)

[Bug 1834869]

2020-01-15 Thread Gerhard-p7
For me the solution was in the directory /etc/xdg/menus

As there Digikam was searching for an file applications.menu which
wasn't available there.

I symbolic linked the file kde4-applications.menu t0 applications.menu
which solved the problem. The "open with" menu was filled with the
expected applications.

so:
cd /etc/xdg/menus
sudo ln -s kde4-applications.menu applications.menu

Worked for me.

[Bug 1538615] Re: Cat causes login screen to hang

I also experience the same problem, cat sleeping on keyboard instead of
nearby cushion, causing the login screen to lock up or hang on two

reattaching the USB keyboard helped, but this is not an option on my
laptop which is also affected by the same cat or bug. Btw, hissing
sounds do not help either.

[Bug 1777279] Re: Resume from suspend to RAM fails with nvidia-graphics-drivers-390

2018-10-07 Thread Gerhard Hagerer
I got a workaround for suspend working on Ubuntu 18.04 with a NVIDIA
GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile and proprietary nvidia drivers 390. I installed
pm-suspend via ```sudo apt-get install pm-utils```.  Then, I switch from
Gnome Shell to the terminal via Ctrl+Alt+f6. After the login, I do
```sudo pm-suspend```. After waking up from standby, I  change back to
Gnome Shell via Ctrl+Alt+f1. Done!
On my notebook, urfkill dumped core while starting the GUI causing it to
loop in the GUI initialization, so I simply removed urfkill and did not
install it again.  I never missed that bugger ever since... (FWIW)
[Bug 1725622] Re: qtcreator crashed with SIGABRT in QMessageLogger::fatal()
2017-10-21 Thread Gerhard Gonter
Problem solved:
It seems that the shell received an invalid value in the DISPLAY
environment variable (wayland-0) and passed it to qtcreator.  Manually
changing DISPLAY to ":0" fixed the problem so that qtcreator started
correctly.  Also, selecting qtcreator as a favorite and starting it by
clicking on the icon in the dock worked fine.
[Bug 1593061] Re: Update of dashboard fails on Xenial
2016-09-20 Thread Martin Gerhard Loschwitz
The problem needs to be fixed by a complete overhauling of of the
openstack-dashboard-ubuntu-theme package. In particular, stuff needs to
move from /usr/share/openstack-dashboard-ubuntu-theme to /usr/share
/openstack-dashboard/openstack_dashboard/themes/ubuntu. I did the same
process for our local theme package, and it worked and did no longer
produce the error.
[Bug 1576059] Re: urfkilld crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message()
2016-07-04 Thread Gerhard Gonter
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1419687 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1419687
bug #1419687 can not be found, so it is difficult to look that up.
It seems this bug hit me and keept me from getting a login prompt in the
gui.  This seems to have been triggered by the last upgrades earlier
today:
2016-07-04 08:24:45 upgrade lsb-base:all 9.20160110 9.20160110ubuntu0.1
0.5.0+git1.656f8865-5ubuntu2.1
After apt-get remove urfkill and rebooting I was able to login on the
GUI again.  These packages ere removed:
[Bug 1579190] Re: Key 5 automatically pressed on some Logitech wireless keyboards
2016-05-16 Thread Gerhard Koegl
I'm using a Logitech K20 wireless keyboard and it randomly repeats
5.
After an event the fist key pressed (no matter which key) is not recognized.
It is pretty annoying especially when writing a text or  while programming.
Does not happen under Windows (same computer).
[Bug 1505948] Re: Memory allocation failure crashes kernel hard
2015-10-14 Thread Martin Gerhard Loschwitz
As already mentioned in my email to the fuse developer mailing list, we
have also tried to create direct i/o traffic on the affected mount
directly but were not able to reproduce the issue. The problem only ever
occurs once Qemu starts to run stuff on top of the FUSE mount. Other
reports of this issue (identical or similar) have mentioned Qemu or
VMware-based emulation as well.
** Description changed:
  Hello everybody,
  Linux 4.1, 4.2 or 4.3-rc leads to an immediate kernel panic in our setup
  when trying to start a Qemu process on top of a fuse-based mount. Here
  is an example stacktrace:
2015-10-14 Thread Martin Gerhard Loschwitz
We can now confirm that the issue does not happen with 4.0.9. This leads
to the assumption that the problem has either been fixed between 4.0 and
4.0.9, or, and I consider this much more likely, the problem was
introduced between 4.0 and 4.1 on the main branch.
[Bug 1426462] [NEW] Include the keystone.py file for integration with Apache+mod_wsgi
2015-02-27 Thread Martin Gerhard Loschwitz
Public bug reported:
Upstream provides a Python file for integration with Apache+mod_wsgi.
According to Morgan Fainberg, this will be the recommended default
deployment scenarion for Kilo.
The file is available from
https://github.com/openstack/keystone/blob/master/httpd/keystone.py
but the Ubuntu Keystone package currently does not ship it. Please
include it in the keystone package so people can leverage its
functionality properly. The Debian packages of Keystone already ship it
as
/usr/share/keystone/wsgi.py
as can be seen on
https://packages.debian.org/sid/all/python-keystone/filelist
Thanks!
[Bug 1185756] Re: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04
2014-04-29 Thread Martin Gerhard Loschwitz
That really depends on the Pacemaker configuration. If the primitive
DRBD resource uses ocf::heartbeat::drbd, it's the resource agent from
resource-agents, /usr/lib/ocf/resource.d/heartbeat/drbd, which is
ancient and shouldn't be used.
If the primitive, however, uses ocf::linbit::drbd, it's the one in
/usr/lib/ocf/resource.d/linbit/drbd, which should be fine.
[Bug 1287621] [NEW] Java Swing Application windows with corrupt bottom area
2014-03-04 Thread Gerhard Radatz
Public bug reported:
Java Swing application windows tend to have some corrupt area at the bottom
when running under compiz.
This problem is similiar to the one reported in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/archlinux/+source/compiz/+bug/1138517 .
Unfortunately, the fix made for this bug solves the problem only for popup
dialog windows. It is still present for main application windows (and also for
splash images, which do not have window decorations).
The problem does not happen everytime, but quite often enough.
Please see a screenshot of IntelliJ IDEA showing it (the bottom area is
corrupted, thus not displaying important information to the user).
This is NOT a problem related to IntelliJ, as it happens with other swing
applications as well.
Workaround: Closing and re-opening the application helps (sometimes, it
must be closed and re-opened several times).
[Bug 1277559] [NEW] Unknown chipset
2014-02-07 Thread Gerhard Burger
Public bug reported:
I am trying to install Ubuntu on a new laptop and it's giving me a headache :P
On boot I get the message:
[ 9.128711] nouveau E [ DEVICE] [:01:00.0] unknown chipset, 0x108120a1
[ 9.128742] nouveau E [ DRM] failed to create 0x8080, -22
...
[ 9.128964] nouveau: probe of :01:00.0 failed with -22
After which it boots in some very weird green mode, where the pixels are
very visible.
My system:
Toshiba Satellite L70-A-12W (with Geforce GT 740M with Optimus support)
Ubuntu 13.10 64 bit (although with 12.04, and 14.04 daily I have the same weird
[Bug 1254032] [NEW] wrong position of window reported after switching workspaces
2013-11-22 Thread Gerhard Burger
Public bug reported:
After switching workspaces by using the mouse to click on applications,
the pointer position reported is not correct which cause dropdown menus
to be displayed at the wrong coordinates.
Because workspace switching using the keyboard or the workspace switcher
on the launcher works, I'll provide detailed instructions  on how to
reproduce this behavior. I also attached a sample tcl/tk program that
shows this issue very well. You can execute this by installing `tcl8.5`
and `tk8.5` and running  `tclsh8.5 unity_bug.tcl`.
Detailed instructions to reproduce behavior:
1. Open an application (eg firefox,chrome,thunderbird) in the top-left
workspace.
2. Run the sample program I provided in the bottom right workspace.
3. Now click the file menu in the sample program, to see the position of this
window relative to the top left corner of the workspace.
4. Now switch to the apllication in the top-left workspace by clicking that
application in the launcher (do NOT use the workspace switcher icon or the
keyboard)
5. switch back to the sample program by clicking the sample program in the
launcher (again do NOT use the workspace switcher icon or the keyboard)
6. click the menu again, note that the position reported is the position of
step 3 plus your screen resolution. Note that because of this the actual menu
will show in the wrong place (bottom left corner of the workspace).
After you drag the window, the behavior is correct again.
NOTE that this is not a bug in tcl/tk!
Open http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_select in Chrome.
Then switch workspaces by clicking a program in another workspace and switch
back to chrome, the dropdown menu will not show up.
