I had the same problem. As far as I understood the problem occurs with lot more probabilities when a video is playing, and it starts with some lag of it (with no relation with CPU load or memory). Ubuntu kernel has the issue, Liquorix kernel (http://www.liquorix.net/) on both Ubuntu and Debian, but no problems with Debian stable kernel (had no choice to test unstable and testing ones).
