[Bug 391628] Re: Everything gets swapped out after resume from suspend using fglrx drivers
I get this too, exactly as described in the initial bug report, with Ubuntu 11.04 on a HP Pavillion DV6-1210SA with an ATI card and the fglrx drivers. Is there any movement on getting it fixed please? It is definitely my number 1 gripe with Ubuntu. It definitely seems to be related to suspending whilst there is some swap usage. Upon resume kswapd just goes mad and keeps moving things to swap until it is 100% full. The only way I can stop it is by either 'sudo swapoff -a' or reboot. Has anyone come up with a workaround if a fix isn't available yet (it has been 2 years since the initial report, it seems it is being avoided!)? [Bug 755847] [NEW] Headphone jack sense not working on HP Pavilion DV6-1210SA
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio Hi Apologies, I don't think this is a pulseaudio bug, but I'm not sure of a better place to put sound issues. Please reassign it if you have more knowledge than I do on the subject! When I plug headphones in to the jack on my HP Pavilion DV6-1210SA laptop, I get sound coming out of both the speakers and the headphones. I've googled for 'Ubuntu jack sense' and it seems that people have been having this problem for years with different laptops. The only way I can get sound coming out of just the headphones is if I go to the sound settings and change the Output Connector to 'Analogue Output' as opposed to the default 'Analogue Speakers'. This is very inconvenient and I have to change it back to 'Analogue Speakers when I want to use the speakers again. [Bug 721896] Re: kswapd0 100% cpu usage
I get this bug too on my HP Pavilion DV6 laptop. For me it only ever happens after a suspend to ram, and the symptoms are the same. My physical ram is 50% full, but the swap space just fills up and churns the hard disc forever. The system becomes barely usable (mouse pointer even sticks for long lengths of time) even though the CPU is 25% in use. sudo swapoff -a seems to solve the problem after a few minutes. If some people are finding this happening without having used suspend- to-ram, I would say we either have 2 separate bugs, or the suspend-to- ram feature is at least a catalyst. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/721896 Title: kswapd0 100% cpu usage -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hmm, just a thought, but what processes if any get triggered after a suspend-to-ram is restored? I just noticed that after running sudo swapoff -a, I now have dpkg running in a background process. [Bug 467592] [NEW] curlftpfs io error with simple use case
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: curlftpfs Under a simple use case, curlftpfs doesn't work. Enter the following at a terminal: mkdir test sudo curlftpfs -o allow_other upload.ntlworld.com test echo Hello test/test.txt (note the curlftpfs command needs your logon details to be stored in ~/.netrc prior to issuing this command) The output from the echo command is: bash: echo: write error: Input/output error Another use case that exhibits the same behaviour is: mkdir .git sudo curlftpfs -o allow_other upload.ntlworld.com .git git init Output of the git command is: error: /home/graham/.git/description: close error: Input/output error fatal: cannot copy /usr/share/git-core/templates/description to /home/graham/.git/description I'm guessing that both the echo and git use case are caused by the same bug as they exhibit very similar behaviours. I read somewhere on the internet that this is caused by the ftp file being flushed before the release command, or something like that, but I can't find the article any more sorry! Hello, Thanks for your reply. I will do as you ask as soon as possible however my installation has completely died. When I updated to the latest kernel release and rebooted I am left with a command-prompt that says something about initramfs. I cannot proceed in to Gnome at all and have very limited command-line knowledge on this OS. Neverball and the other 3d apps I use are now running silky smooth even with th desktop effects set to full. Google Earth however is still maintaining 1fps.
