The only solution I have found is to use PowerPoint for presentations that
have more complex animations :-(

[Bug 778293] [NEW] Custom Motion Paths do not repest

2011-05-06 Thread Gregor Shapiro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libreoffice

The Custom Animation Effects for Impress are buggy or do not work at all. A
simple example is repeat of motion paths; an object's motion on the path is not
repeated.
(This was reported earlier in other versions of OpenOffice, LibreOffice and
earlier versions of Ubuntu. Nothing has happened for over a year now.)
I am now running Ubuntu 11.04 (where do I find System-About Ubuntu with
Unity?)
1:3.3.2-1ubuntu4 (libreoffice-impress)
I expected the object to move several times along the freeform path I created
The objcet only followed the path once

Re: [Bug 694281] Re: Impress: F5 gives a black screen

2011-02-27 Thread Gregor Shapiro
In LibreOffice 3.3 on Ubuntu 10.10 the bug does NOT occur.

However, if the controls are to be more similar to MS PoeerPoint - and it
does seem that often the attempt is made to mimic the Microsoft product, the
command [F5] should start the presentation at the first slide (from the
beginning) and the command Shift + [F5] should start the presentation at the
slide currently being edited. As it is in LibreOffice (and has been in
OpenOffice.org) the [F5] command starts the presentation at the current
slide.
Do you still want a presentation that demonstrates the reported bug (in OOo
on Ubuntu 10.04)? I imagine that there might not be too much effort put into
correcting such a minor thing...
/Gregor

I have an Impress presentation. I create an object from a primative (a
right triangle and group it with some text objects.
i copy this group and move rotate the copies. I add custom animation
effects to object #1, a 360 degree spin and a Freeform motion path (with
previous). I edit the path, removing some spurious nodes and changing the
remaining control points. After most edits I use F5 to see the result of my
edits (the Play button only shows the first few seconds of the motion and the
final position but that is ANOTHER bug, not this one!) Often the edits though
they show as changes in the motion path line (the dashed gray line that appears
when the Custom Animation tab in the right pane is selected), are not presented
when I preview (F5).
Edits such as movement of control points of motion paths DO NOT appear to be
accepted by Impress (the Save button and menu item are not available).
I have tried saving (after other edits) and reopening the file but I cannot
find a workaround that does what I want.

edit the path, removing some spurious nodes and changing the remaining control
points. After most edits I use F5 to see the result of my edits (the Play
button only shows the first few seconds of the motion and the final position
but that is ANOTHER bug, not this one!) Often the edits though they show as
changes in the motion path line (the dashed gray line that appears when the
Custom Animation tab in the right pane is selected), are not presented when I
preview (F5).
Edits such as movement of control points of motion paths DO NOT appear to be
accepted by Impress (the Save button and menu item are not available).
I have tried saving (after other edits) and reopening the file but I cannot
find a workaround that does what I want.

[Bug 588275] [NEW] Custom Animation Play button does not show entire effect

2010-06-01 Thread Gregor Shapiro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Impress: Custom Animation motion paths are among the effects that do not
display properly when the effect is selected and the Play button is pressed.
I get only the first half a second and the final position of a Very Slow
motion path.
F5 works as expected.
