Try to define AZX_MAX_CODECS to from 3 to 4 in sound/pci/hda/hda_intel.c
if you want to use ubuntu kernel

Same problem, after kernel version 2.6.20-12-generic is no sound...

Notebook Samsung R40

no such file as codec#0

I have this problem too.
Notebook - Samsung R40 K007.
Sound card - intel hda

/proc/asound/cards:

 0 [SB ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI SB
  HDA ATI SB at 0xc040 irq 18

/proc/asound/pcm:

00-06: Si3054 Modem : Si3054 Modem : playback 1 : capture 1

but on kernel 2.6.20-12-generic /proc/asound/pcm:

00-06: Si3054 Modem : Si3054 Modem : playback 1 : capture 1
00-02: ALC262 Analog : ALC262 Analog : capture 2
00-00: ALC262 Analog : ALC262 Analog : playback 1 : capture 2
