[Bug 1313395] Re: can not open youtube video fullscreen with firefox on gnome-shell

2014-09-05 Thread Grzegorz G.
The same, but with Intel Sandy Bridge graphics and GDM. Trusty x64 with
Gnome Shell and Firefox 32, but it isn't the Gnome remix. Happens with
or without Youtube Center addon.

What is funny, it doesn't happen on Youtube itself, only on videos
embedded on other sites like Humble Indie Bundle.

@MicWit: I had problems even with 11.10, as you can see in the
automatically generated part of the description. Perhaps I should test
the newer kernels, but I totally got bored with it and I just use
workaround 2: disable AMD C1E. Maybe you should open a separate bug

[Bug 1247153] Re: wallpaper doesn't draw completely

2014-01-11 Thread Grzegorz G.
This package cointains .jpg images, not code responsible for drawing the
wallpaper. I'm marking this as invalid. If I remember correctly,
Nautilus was responsible for drawing the background, so you can report
this bug against Nautilus.

BTW your Unity panel looks weird. Maybe Ubuntu wasn't correctly
installed on your PC?

[Bug 1236749] Re: Gnome shell extensions disabled at every startup

2013-12-04 Thread Grzegorz G.
I have this problem too, but not at every startup. It only happens
sometimes. Also gnome-tweak-tool often crashes (similar to comment #15 )
and sometimes screen locking behaves weird (see attachment) - I can take
a screenshot and it lands in my Images folder, but I can't alt-tab, or
anything like this. I have to ctrl+alt+F6, login and run

DISPLAY=:0 gnome-shell --replace

, but sometimes even this doesn't work. Some data:

Ubuntu 13.10

$ gnome-shell --version
GNOME Shell 3.8.4

$ gsettings get org.gnome.shell enabled-extensions

BTW Windows Overview Tooltips isn't shown on

workarounds mentioned here.

[Bug 1241736] [NEW] Wrong menu is being shown if mouse not moved after area selection

2013-10-18 Thread Grzegorz G.
Public bug reported:

What I did:
(See attached video.) In both tests I've selected two files and right-clicked
one of them. In the first case I didn't move the cursor between releasing LMB
and pressing RMB; in the second case, I did.

What happened:
In the first case Nautilus acted like I've right-clicked empty space in the
folder, even though I've clicked a file. In the second case it acted normally -
like I've right-clicked a file.

What was expected:
In both cases Nautilus should act like I've right-clicked a file.

Additional info:
Ubuntu 13.04, GNOME nautilus 3.6.3 (1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16).

I was really confused. I've tried few times and it looked like I can't
open right-click menu related to few files. I have found solution in
about 15s to 1m, but If I didn't knew anything about mouse events (and
average user doesn't have that knowledge) it would last longer.

I have finally forced myself to go back to this bug. Tested with Linux

[Bug 828962] Re: new kernel doesn't boot in 11.10

2013-05-06 Thread Grzegorz G.

[Bug 6090] Re: allow RAW pictures thumbnailing

2013-04-30 Thread Grzegorz G.
Gnome-raw-thumbnailer now works properly, so I'm marking as fix released
to clean up a bit.

If you want gnome-raw-thumbnailer to be included in default install, you
have to report this against some other package. Or perhaps bring it to
attention on nearest UDS.

If there are some filetypes not working with gnome-raw-thumbnailer, file
separate bugs.

Oh, it has expired one day ago? Good I've thought about visiting this
bug report.

*bump to avoid expiration*

IDK when I'll find time to finally do it (maybe somewhere between 29.04
and 05.05), but I'll use newest mainline kernel, so you don't have to
link me to it every time. :)

And can you answer questions in my comment above?

[Bug 852923] Re: gnome-raw-thumbnailer doesn't do anything

2013-04-06 Thread Grzegorz G.
AFAIK no backporting is required, the package just has to be rebuilt for
12.04. But it has to be approved for SRU (stable release update). It
should be possible, because it meets the criteria (Bugs which represent
severe regressions from the previous release of Ubuntu. This includes
packages which are totally unusable, like being uninstallable or
crashing on startup. )

We must do some stuff if we want it to get SRUed. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates .

@dholbach: Can you tell me what minor changes you did? In summer I want
to fix other thumbnailers, but I have absolutely no experience with
debian packaging.

[Bug 852923] Re: gnome-raw-thumbnailer doesn't do anything

2013-03-31 Thread Grzegorz G.
Good news! Today I had some time to play with it and I have created a
simple, but working patch. It just puts gnome-raw.thumbnailer (see
comment #20 ) in /usr/share/thumbnailers/ during install.

I tried to make a PPA for testing, but all this bzr, ppa and package
building stuff takes way more than 1 day to understand. I have only
managed to build a deb for myself without correct info (like version -
USC won't let you install it, I had to do it by dpkg -i). But if fix in
comment #20 works for you, then the patched package should too.

So we just need somebody more experienced to apply my patch to trunk
(maybe even upstream) and bug will be fixed in newer versions.

I think I have actually managed to set up a PPA. You can use it for
testing: https://code.launchpad.net/~grzesiek1e5/+archive/testing

But If someone wants to merge my branch, better don't merge anything
else than those three files mentioned in patch above, as it certainly
isn't clean, properly documented (debian files) branch. :)

2012-12-01 Thread Grzegorz G.
What about changing other power management options? CoolQuiet, etc.
Also: I have revision 3.1 and bios F5g, so stuff may work differently.
You can register on Gigabyte forum and search (or ask) for help. I found this
C1E tip there.

Maybe unrelated, but anyway: kernel complains that it can't load
microcode for AMD fam15h processors. I thought about installing
amd64-microcode (or amd64-microcodes, I don't remember ATM) package, but
I don't really know what are microcodes. Are they loaded into processor
(like firmware) or they are only used by kernel until reboot?

So this seems like issue with C1E support under Linux... :(

[Bug 1007508] Re: Precise will not boot (generic kernel 3.2.0.24.26)

2012-09-26 Thread Grzegorz G.
Yes. Just like it did with previous BIOS.

** Description changed:

- to power PC off.)

Status of this bug is still incomplete. What else do I have to provide?

BTW with this beta BIOS the longest part of boot is displaying BIOS

2012-09-05 Thread Grzegorz G.
is not terribly helpful
Sorry.

Could you please provide the information following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingACPI ?
Do you mean submitting outputs of those commands? I did. See attachments. Or I
have to do this again?

Sorry for not understanding you, but my English isn't very good.

[Bug 1007508] Re: ACPI bug in Precise (generic kernel 3.2.0.24.26)

2012-09-04 Thread Grzegorz G.
Hm, look at this:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11414032#post11414032
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=117717
And other, found by Google.

Some people are actually running Linux on this mainboard. IDK if with
workarounds or not, maybe we should ask them?

But I've also found threads (in Polish and English) about Linux not
booting with this mainboard.

And there is a thread (in Polish) where someone says that he was able to
boot linux without any additional params, only by using nomodeset for
LiveCD: http://forum.dobreprogramy.pl/instalator-ubuntu-nie-uruchamia-
sie-t487193.html (System installed and no GRUB editing was necessary.)
I'll try to boot my PC without my workaround, only with nomodeset.

[Bug 1007508] Re: ACPI bug in Precise (generic kernel 3.2.0.24.26)

2012-08-27 Thread Grzegorz G.
It didn't help. I tried booting without any special parameters and it
doesn't work. (But I didn't try with only acpi=off or with only
nolapic.) I thought photo of screen can help, because kernel complains
about some incorrect checksum (as it did before).

it happens:
- no additional parameters - won't boot
- acpi=off AND nolapic - boots (wifi and resolution errors, but it doesn't
matter).

Yes, I have revision 3.1. When I checked last time (~2 monts ago) newest
bios was F5d. In F5g description it states Beta BIOS. I'm not sure if
upgrading BIOS to beta release is a good idea...

Yes, I saw powernow-k8 warning too. Cool'N'Quiet can't be forced to be
enabled. There are only two options: disabled and auto; I have it set to
auto.

[Bug 1007508] [NEW] ACPI bug in Precise (generic kernel 3.2.0.24.26)

2012-06-01 Thread Grzegorz G.
Public bug reported:

On my new PC something is wrong with ACPI support under Linux. I have to
boot it with acpi=off and nolapic, without any of those two system won't
boot. (As a side effect it detects only one CPU core and won't shut down
completely, I have to hold power button for few seconds to power PC
off.)

My configuration:

Ubuntu 12.04 (upgraded from 11.10)
Processor AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core
RAM 8,00 GB
Graphic Gigabyte GV-N56GOC-1GI (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560)
Mainboard Gigabyte GA-870A-USB3
Disk ATA OCZ-AGILITY3 (SSD)

According to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingACPI I tried booting it
with acpi=ht (also with acpi=ht AND nolapic), but not to avail. Quote:
'If acpi=off works and acpi=ht fails, then the issue is in the ACPI
table parsing code itself, or perhaps the SMP code. '

I will also attach files mentioned on the DebuggingACPI wiki page.
