[Bug 664311] Re: Network Mngr caused CPU to fluctuate.

2011-02-14 Thread GunnarØ
The CPU-fluctuation has just reappeared. And I'm not able to solve it by
blacklisting the e1000e driver. However, the fluctuations stop when
disabling networking.

[Bug 664311] [NEW] Network Mngr caused CPU to fluctuate.

2010-10-21 Thread GunnarØ
Public bug reported:

Although no applications is running I experience continous 0 to 100% CPU
load on one CPU. I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 on a Lenovo X61 with 1.9 GiB
memory, dual core CPU 2GHz. Temporarily settled by blacklisting the
driver e1000e.

Another comment on this issue.
I blacklisted the e1000e, and the CPU fluctuations were gone.

Then I reactivated the e1000e, and the CPU problems are still gone!!

Just to add some comments, as I helped Gunnar with this problem:

-always reproductible, just boot the laptop, and the CPU will be used by
 events/1 on one processor core

-the only way to get rid of this is to deactivate the network
-some researches online lead us to the ethernet driver, an Intel 82566MM
 Gigabit Network Connection.
-we blacklisted the e1000e module, now no more problem...

Well, in order to reproduce the bug I reactivated the e1000e, but the
problem did not reappear!!
